I hope I’m not aging myself and I have no idea if these date way back or just when I was in high school. Did you ever make friendship bracelets when you were young? I remember sitting in class with safety pins pinned to my jeans while I worked on my newest creation. How we got away with doing them during school is beyond me LOL. It wasn’t until I recently when I had the chance to review the “My Friendship Maker” that I remember those days of long ago.
When I was asked to review the My Friendship Maker with my daughter I became very nostalgic for the past and thought it would be a fun thing to teach my daughter. Turns out that my daughter is a little young yet to understand how to hold the threads tight and thread them properly on her own. That doesn’t mean we didn’t have a good time working on our friendship bracelet together. Unlike the “old young days” of the past there is now a tool to help you old the ribbons in place.

Once we took our bracelet maker out of the package I had to spend some time familiarizing myself with how to make them once again. It is amazing how things just come flooding back. Of course Honey is an independent little girl and refused to let me help her at first. I sat with her and tried to show her what to do. There was no doubt in her mind that she could do it. I just love her enthusiasm even though sometimes it is so frustrating.

After 15 minutes of trying it on her own and getting a little more then frustrated she relented and we worked on the bracelet together.

This isn’t the best bracelet, but they say practice makes perfect. Honey and I are going to pick some more colors and make some more. If I most be completely honest I have to say I actually prefer the safety pin in the jeans to the new tool. Of course you don’t find me wearing jeans much in Florida so for the time being I think the bracelet maker is much more versatile. Here is the cool thing. If you visit the My Friendship Bracelet Maker site you will find some great patterns to jazz up your friendship bracelet. Even better each pattern includes a video tutorial to show you how to make the pattern.

I love the heart pattern
Shibley Smiles Review Opinions:
Price: $18.99 at Amazon.com this is the price we would expect to pay for a toy like this.
Quality: We rate the quality as average. It appears to be sturdy and doesn’t appear to break easily. We believe it will be durable and can be used time and time again.
Age: For play by ones self we recommend age 7-13. Though at a younger age it can be a fun time for mother and daughter.
Recommendation: Though we do not believe the maker is necessary to make friendship bracelets we do feel this would be an easier way for children to learn to make them.
