Another day, another truth revealed. If you haven’t been following you can get caught up quickly by checking out my original post 4 Truths and A Lie, if you would like to read about the reveals so far you can find all of the posts here.
Truth #3 I did indeed go to school with a future Miss America.
When I was in ninth grade my family moved to a small house on Redington Beach. This of course meant I had to change high schools in the middle of the school year. Well more like the end of the school year. So for nine weeks at the end of ninth grade I attended Seminole High School.
Changing schools in the middle of the school year just SUCKS! Usually everyone has their friends, clicks are made and when you come in your an outsider. Thankfully there were three girls that let me into their circle of friends, Jennifer, Rayna, and Nicole. So my dreaded change wasn’t as bad as I had imagined.
An incident with Nicole still stands out in my mind because talk about being embarrassed. In a conversation close to the first few days I attended the school she asked me, knowing I had come from another high school, if I had Coach Johnson. It just so happened I did have him that year and he was one of the most disliked gym teachers in the school (No disrespect Coach Johnson, we are talking about high school students). He was tough and we thought of him as a drill sergeant. I proceeded to tell her this not knowing the whole time that her last name was….Johnson. Yep I was talking about her dad. If I remember correctly she did laugh instead of throwing me under the nearest moving bus.
The three girls ended up being the reason I didn’t absolutely hate my parents for moving me to yet another school. The following year we moved back into the Dixie Hollins school zone and I finished out my high school years there. (that reminds me of a Senior Year moving horror story I will have to share sometime).
So yes I did indeed go to school and was friends with Miss America 1999 Nicole Johnson
