Asking me to talk about how I’m an On-The-Go kinda mom is like asking me if I brush my teeth every morning. I thought the definition of “Mom” was taxi driver, cook, maid, sports fan, and more. There are not too many weeks when I have night after night of nothing to do. As with every mom I experience the same, “Don’t forget to brush your teeth?”, “Did you do your homework?”, “What do you mean you have a project due tomorrow?” I’m sure you know exactly what I’m talking about right?
So in addition to remembering and spending time getting all the kids to do the basic “must do’s” I’m also all over the place and on the go. Last week was pretty much a typical week with just a different set of activities. For example Monday night I raced home to get a few grocery items and then back out to get a last minute Halloween costume. Tuesday night the boys had a soccer game so it was rush home to grab a bite to eat and off to the soccer fields (with jackets and blankets in toe…burrr!). Wednesday night was Halloween so of course we did the traditional trick-or-treating. Thursday night was Honey’s birthday and we attended a pre-screening of Wreck-It Ralph. Friday was my one night to breathe a little before the weekend festivities began. Saturday we had an early soccer game, after that my oldest son needed a ride to the bowling alley to take some bowling team photos so the rest of us tagged along to enjoy a little family fun. Sunday was Honey’s birthday party so I got up and rushed around making sure everything was in order and we drove down to Chuck E Cheese.
It is Sunday evening and I’m now catching up on laundry, trying to make some type of organization of my house, and catching up on some blogging deadlines. This is pretty much how we do things in the Shibley household. If you followed all that above did you wonder wear dinner fell in all that? Let’s just say we often find ourselves each just grabbing something. Rarely do we have the opportunity to all sit down and enjoy a big family meal. So for us it is essential to have easy options when it comes to dinner. Such options as frozen meals (not my favorite), fast food (not the healthiest), soup (easy but doesn’t travel well), or any other quick meal.
I recently was introduced to Tyson Bread Bowls, a quick and easy meal. In fact you can microwave one Tyson Bread Bowl in 55 seconds. I decided to give these a try myself just this Sunday evening. I had a light breakfast and only a small piece of pizza at the birthday party so I was quite hungry by the time we got home. Not ready for dinner but wanting something more then a snack such as chips, candies, or anything of that nature. I grabbed from my freezer the Chicken Bacon Club Stuffed Mini Bread Bowls. For a quick meal they were pretty good. I ended up eating more then one and skipped dinner as I was rushing around to finish that laundry.
