I wanted to highlight two of the books that you will find in my Valentines Day Gift Basket Giveaway.
This is a book of poetic prose designed to give you an insight to love and how to apply it to everyday life. I have to say I’m not one to sit and read poetry or prose. I prefer a good story or facts. I’m a logical person I read for either escape and enjoyment or for research. However I did find the words in this book to be inspiring and lovely. Believe it or not my husband was much more in tune with the book. He enjoyed the short poetry type snippets that give you an insight into love. The 26 page book comes with instructions on meditating upon the words that you read. Take your time and digest what you are reading, and open your mind. This is a good book if you are in a place of confusion and need a little understanding or just want to be inspired.
This is a good read. One of those, oh that is so true, or no wonder why he can’t understand me type of books. The book is divided into 5 parts: The Prologue which gives you examples of couples in a fight. The Dictionary which defines 70 words and phrases with cross-referencing. The Epilogue which repeats the first fights demonstrating how it might have been handled differently. The Appendix which includes tips to a good conversation. Your Personal Inventory List where you can track your words/terms that cause problems. I have to admit my favorite part is the Dictionary. This book is fun to sit down and read with your significant other. An example Apology:
Apology Men: To men “I’m sorry” is a public acknowledgment of their mistake, which evokes shame and humiliation. They have been programmed to be winners which goes against an apology.
Apology Women: They say “I’m sorry” when things don’t go well, even if it is not their fault. For example someone steps on a woman’s foot she is likely to say apologize. It does not mean she thinks she had done something wrong; it means “I’m sorry things didn’t go well”.
This is a very interesting and enlightening book into the difference between men and women when it comes to communication.
