My Home Made Slippery Sofa Fix

sofa-150

For some reason for the past 6 months the cushions on my sofa began to slip out every time someone sat down. I was constantly pushing them back and fluffy the pillows. I thought at first it was the way the kids throw themselves on the sofa, however I began to notice that even when my husband was sitting down the cushions were slipping forward. Truthfully we need a new sofa, it seems every 5 years I'm saying the same thing. However I really don't want to spend money on a new … [Read more...]

Dishwasher Clean/Dirty Magnet Craft Tutorial

my-magnet

I remember I use to love the magnet that my grandmother had on her dishwasher. Even though she has passed the magnet is still there. It is simple really, just something to let others know if the dishwasher is clean or dirty. I'm sure you can purchase the same thing in a store. I've seen something similar myself but nothing that I liked. See my grandmothers flipped back and forth and I just loved it as a child. So instead of searching for one I decided to make my own. Supplies … [Read more...]

Increase Traffic with Crowd Ignite

crowdignite

A fellow blogger turned me on to Crowd Ignite some time ago. It is the 5 boxes you will see under my comment section. They have always been above the section but I recently moved them there to test out a few things. I usually average between 50-130 hits per day, and as you can see on this graph one day I hit 400. That is equivalent to 1500-3900 hits per month from them. I think this is a pretty good trade off for adding it to my site. I have found that I do have to maintain … [Read more...]

How to Optimize, Minimize, and Resize Your Photos

Screen shot 2011-08-22 at 11.22.48 PM

I had a reader recently ask me how I managed to get my files to be small yet so clear. When you are posting a lot of photos on your site you want the file size (as in kilobytes) to be as small as possible yet still have a very high quality photo. Not only do you want small photos for your site but have you ever tried sending large files through email? I use gmail and though it has the capability to send very large files the person on the other end isn't always able to receive … [Read more...]

Media Kits : How to Create and What to Put In Them

media-kit-sm

If you are a blogger do you have a media kit? As my blog has grown in the past year so has my need for a quick and easy way to say, “Hey here I am and this is what I’m all about!”  This is what I personally feel the purpose of a media kit is. It is a one page (or two) introduction to who you are and what you can do for your client. Creating a media kit was one of the best things I have done. It shows a client, or company, that you mean business.  You are not just a mom, … [Read more...]

How to Create Disney Character Easter Eggs

Easter-Eeyore-blue-egg

WINNIE THE POOH is our beloved ‘hunny’-loving bear, so why not choose one of his favorite things - a honey jar – to create as an Easter egg? You want it to look like a real honey jar so use tape to cover the top of the egg where the lid will be and also a wide strip of tape around the middle for the ‘HUNNY’ label. Boil half a cup of water, mix in 30-40 drops of blue food dye, and one tablespoon of white vinegar. When it cools, gently lower the egg into the pot. The … [Read more...]
