When you’re shopping for a new car seat or travel system, after the obvious safety ratings, what is the main attributes you just can’t live without?
For me, it’s weight limits. I tend to have larger kiddos, at birth, and they don’t slow down from there. There are so many people who can make it through the first year with their little one in an infant car seat, but I’m not one of them. In fact, my best friend isn’t one of them, either! Our little ones tend to outgrow infant car seats at around 6 or 7 months!
I am very excited that I have had the opportunity to review the Chicco Cortina Travel System, because it’s a fantastic system that includes a car seat that is rated for little ones up to 30 lbs. Most car seats are only rated for about 22 lbs, so it’s great that this one can be used a little longer.
This system is so versatile. Not only will it fit the chunkiest of monkeys (and I totally and kicking myself in the rear for not getting a pic of my BFF’s chunk in this carseat while I had him, just to so the versatility), but it’s also great for the itty bitties like the ones below. Say hi to Eisley who is one of my doula babies! 🙂
I love the one pull harness tightening so that the straps do not have to be reconfigured with varying outfits and diapers! I know that oftentimes, cloth diaper can vary in thickness, so it’s important to be able to tighten the seat easily.
Chicco Cortina Keyfit30
- Usage: from 4-30 lbs, newborn insert from 4-11 lbs
- Includes the #1-rated KeyFit Infant Car Seat & Base
- Carrier shell is lined with EPS energy-absorbing foam

The travel system comes complete with car seat, base, and awesome stroller (that I really had my eye on!). I love this stroller because of course, it is made to fit with the car seat, but it’s also a fully functional, stylish, and completely convenient and easy to use.
Chicco Cortina Stroller
- Stroller features multi-position, flat-recline seat with Memory Recline™
- Stroller features parent and child cup holders, large storage basket and easy one-hand fold
I love, love, love that it flat reclines, which means that when my toddler falls asleep, he can lay completely back, and it actually remembers exactly the recline setting you had when you fold it up and bring it back out again. When we went on vacation, we rented a stroller that had this feature, and I vowed that I would NEVER have a stroller without it.. ever again!
Another cool feature of the stroller is that if your little one is in the stroller and in the flat recline position, the head end flips up creating a wall so that he doesn’t inch his way out of the back. You can also flip up the leg rest to create a bassinet type environment for your little one so that he doesn’t slide out from either end!
Jett loves going for walks around the block in this stroller. He likes that he has a snack tray and a place for his cup (which is a big deal for him, right now!), but he also likes that it’s a comfy stroller that he can still grow with. I like the adult cut holder and the little compartment that holds my keys and chapstick while I’m out walking without having to worry about them falling to the ground when I go over bumps in the road!
And I just love this picture, because it shows just how much HE loves this stroller, too. It’s actually become a permanent piece of furniture in our living room, now, because he likes to sit in it while he’s watching TV or watching his brothers play the Xbox.
