I remember the days of Smurfs, Rainbow Brite, Jem, and Fraggle Rock. As I kid I thought how could adults not like these shows? Then of course, you grow up and many of those shows that you loved as a child are just not so appealing anymore as adults. Sometimes we will watch them to relive a nostalgic memory but honestly I couldn’t watch an episode of Brady Bunch these days and enjoy it.
I find myself however, often with my daughter all snuggled up on the weekends watching her shows. I’m only watching them to spend time with her of course, or am I? I have to shamelessly admit I love a lot of the shows she watches. There are times she will leave me all cuddled up under the covers and I will continue to watch. So here are some of the shows that I actually DVR to watch later (cough) with my daughter.
Disney children’s shows got it right. I find many of them appeal to adults, or at least to this adult!
Disney Children’s Shows for Children or Adults LOL?
Good Luck Charlie! – Disney
This is by far my favorite! All the characters in this show make me laugh there is not one I love more then the other. I totally love Amy, the mom, and how she deals with the kids and her tough yet loving way. Gabe cracks me up during each and every episode and PJ makes me scratch my head. I also love the music of Bridgit Mendler, who plays Teddy.
Jessie – Disney
Jessie often has me laughing and her antics and pitfalls of a live in nanny. Zuri is definitely my favorite, she reminds me at times of Honey with her often mature way of acting and looking at things.
Wizards of Waverly Place – Disney
I’ve always had a fascination with all things magic, Charmed use to be one of my favorite shows. So it is only natural for me to enjoy watching Wizards of Waverly Place with Honey. I love to see the mischief that Alex creates and the sibling dynamic is much like my own kids. Competing, fighting, but underneath it all loving. I DVR’d one of the movies and watched it all by myself (because my daughter had seen it 15 times already).
Austin & Ally – Disney
I won’t actually DVR this one to watch later but I can sit and watch it with my daughter. I enjoy the singing and Austin and Dez make me laugh. Ally is a little narcotic but that adds to her charm. I can’t help but have a special place in my heart for this show since Ross Lynch gave Shibley Smiles a personal shout out!
