Chili’s has ALWAYS been one of my favorite restaurants, even as a kid. It brings back memories of my mother and I ordering chicken fajitas MY FAVORITE! Monday afternoon I received an email from Chili’s (I joined their email club) about some great specials they were running this week. Monday’s special caught my attention: KIDS EAT FREE!
So when I got home I told the hubby and children to get ready because we were going out for dinner! With a family of 5, plus my mother-in-law eating out is not the most inexpensive thing to do. Even McDonald’s cost us a good $25. Anyway the kids were excited to be going out so we hopped in the car and drove down to our local Chili’s.
We placed our drink order, you can see here both Honey and Nick opted for their slurpee type drinks. Honey ordered the red and Nick the blue. Once the drinks came and they both tasted each others they decided to switch. With the drink order I order the chips and queso using the free coupon I received from joining the email club. I would have LOVED to order the Kicked-Up Queso from the Wild or Mild menu but that really isn’t my hubby’s style, he always shakes his head when I order anything extra spicy!
The kids knew exactly what they wanted, each of them ordered the chicken fingers basket. Honey and Buddy ordered the crispy ones and Nick ordered what appeared to be more deep fried, it looked like beer batter. The hubby ordered a HUGE burger, which at one time would have been nothing but with his healthier eating habits the past several months the burger was more then a mouthful!
I ordered from the Wild or Mild Menu and ordered the Bacon Ranch Chicken Quesadillas. This was after I was heartbroken to find out that Chili’s had removed my second favorite item from their menu, the Cajun Chicken Sandwich. Buddy who thought the children’s chicken was going to be way to small found it the perfect size and he was stuffed when he finished. Nick in turn eat his entire meal as well.
Honey found out that maybe mama really knows best. I tried to convince her to fore go the fries for a different side but I think she wanted to be like “the boys” and order the same as them. Or it could be because I questioned her in front of the waitress after she placed her own order and she was embarrassed. Either way her fries ended up on a napkin and she ate chicken and most of her grandmother’s broccoli. Actually I think she ate more broccoli then chicken. How can I complain?
The evening was a fun family affair with the kids playing tic tac toe and coloring while we all chatted about our day and anything else that tickled our fancy. I have always enjoyed the atmosphere at Chili’s because it is extremely child friendly. I also had a coupon for a free brownie sundae but after the chips and queso and yummy bacon ranch quesadillas there was no room in this already too large tummy.
If you are looking for something with a little kick I recommend browsing the Wild or Mild Menu: Kicked-Up Queso, Blazin’ Big Mouth Bites, Jalapeno Chicken Quesadillas and Sweet Maple BBQ Chicken Crispers.
