I consider myself fortunate and blessed to never have to experience hunger due to lack of ability to get food. I’ve gone through periods in my life of counting change and eating Ramen Noodles and peanut butter and jelly everyday due to lack of funds but never “hunger”. I have a loving family that would never let that happen.
However reality is that not everyone is in this same situation. 50 million Americans won’t know where their next meal will come from at some point this year, that’s one in six Americans. You can help contribute tojust by shopping at your local Walmart, something you do anyway.
In support of Hunger Action Month this September, Walmart will work with customers, suppliers and associates nationwide to donate up to 53 million meals to Feeding America and give $2.5 million for hunger relief.
Several Walmart suppliers are helpingand they need your help. By purchasing products from these suppliers General Mills, Kelloggs, Unilever, Kraft Foods, and Con Agra Foods you can turn one meal into seven.
When you enter the code from select Kellogg’s products on Walmart.com/Hunger, Kellogg’s will donate 7 meals to Feeding America®. The monetary equivalent of meals will be donated, $1=7 meals. Up to two million meals total.
In addition to purchasing products you can participate in theand help your community with a chance to give them $50,000. It is very simple to enter, in fact I just did myself. You simply fill out a form and nominate a community you feel is in need of the $50,000. 40 US communities will be randomly selected to win. That is a total of $2,000,000!
Tell me have you ever experienced hunger or helped out a family or community in need?
