As promised details about our fun Chevy event that took place in South Florida. I really did try to take photos but I got so wrapped up in the event I didn’t take nearly enough. I’m bummed I didn’t get photos of all of us together though I know there are many floating around out there.
Our first stop was at Maroone Chevy in which we filled out a little paperwork and met each other and picked up our rockin’ rides.
We got a chance to drive they very sought after Volt . I have to say I’m not a car person so I was not familiar with the Volt. This sounds like a really awesome car. The car is NOT considered a hybrid as it doesn’t use electric and gas simultaneously. The car can get an average of 40 miles to a charge. So basically if you have a commute to and from work under 40 miles you could literally never use gas during your commute. Should you however drive more then 40 miles at one time (which we often do) the car will smoothly switch from electric to gas with out any notice by the driver. I really love the idea of an electric car, not only because…have you seen the gas prices lately?, but because it is better on our environment. Also with less gas use that means less regular maintenance such as oil changes, air filters, etc. In addition with the purchase of a fuel efficient car you can take part in the tax rebate. My only issue with the car, having 3 children, is the room. There is definitely not enough room for my family. I look forward to a bigger version emerging.
We also got to experience the Traverse this is definitely more of a car that would fit with my family dynamics. The inside was spacious and definitely could fit my children and their friends. Part of our problem right now is that my car only fits 5. Which is great since there is five of us, however my mother in law lives with us and any time we want to go anywhere together we have to take two cars. Also I can’t tote any of the boys friends along because we just don’t have the room. However I will say that I would love the car even more if the second row of seats held three instead of two. Giving us the ability to lay down the third row seating for extra trunk room when we aren’t carting around the neighborhood.
All cars had Onstar and GPS systems and that was really fun. We had a fun time with ours in that it couldn’t understand Anne (Mommy Has to Work) when she gave it our needed location. Better then the Sync in my car when it can not understand you it will connect you with a live person so they can download the directions to your car. Definitely a plus!
I’m excited to also say that during our night out we were asked to tweet about our event and the cars. If you want to follow any of the conversations you can search for the hashtag #ChevyMNO. At the end of the night one tweet was to be chosen to win a special prize.
Winning tweet (from Shibley Smiles):
I’m totally lovin’ this Traverse it would fit all my kids and then some. As in someone elses then somes. #ChevyMNO
Thank you Chevy for selecting my tweet as the winner, and for the $50 Visa gift card.
Tune in tomorrow regarding our fun spa day at Contour Spa!
