When I’m out and about running errands, taking the kids to doctor appointments, and watching baseball games the one thing that I like to bring with me is my iPad. This is because it is much smaller than my laptop but bigger than my iPhone. I always have it with me when I’m at the doctors so I can put my next scheduled appointments right into my iCalendar.
It is great to bring on business trips with me as well, I can check my email on the go and keep up with my blog while traveling. However have you ever wished you had a scanner with you? Ever have to run down to Walgreens or your local printing store to scan something in to email to a client? This is where the iConvert Scanner for iPad Tablet from Brookstone comes in handy. This product is light, durable, and small, perfect for traveling or just storing in your briefcase to have at a time of need.
The iConvert Scanner for iPad and iPad 2 tablets from Brookstone scans in high-resolution 300 dpi for clear, crisp JPEG images. The front feeder adjusts from 2″ to 8½” wide to fit most common sizes of photos and documents. The iConvert Scanner works with a free downloadable app at the App StoreSM. It couldn’t be simpler to use. Just place your iPad tablet on the scanner and easy on-screen prompts guide you through every step—from “scan” (with real-time preview) to “save” or “delete.” Powered via included AC adapter. System requirements: iPad2 or iPadwith iOS 4.3.5 or later.
I can immediately think of several things this where this will be handy, especially for bloggers like myself. I will admit I’m TERRIBLE at saving my receipts, even though we all need them come tax time. This would be perfect to have either back at your hotel room or set up in your office at home. As soon as you get home, or back to your hotel, simply scan in your receipt. Or how many business cards do you end up with when you are traveling on business? How handy it would be to just scan them into your iPad for easy recall later.
The iConvert can easily scan in photos or letter size documents.
When it arrived and I finally got a chance to take it out of the box to test it out I was very impressed with the size and weight. I was also please with how easy it was to use. When you first power up your iConvert Scanner you will need to calibrate it. This is simply feeding through the provided sheet of paper for calibration. Then you will need to download the free application for iConvert to your scanner. When these two steps are done it is a matter of docking your iPad and beginning to scan. It scans fairly quickly and saves with the press of a button. It is so easy I did a quick video tutorial for your viewing pleasure.
Receipts and photos and memos, oh my!
The iConvert Scanner will help you put order to—and prevent you from permanently losing—all the many types of documents in your world. At home, it lets you save family photos, genealogy records, greeting cards, recipes and children’s artwork. At the office, you can archive meeting notes, resumes, renderings and signed contracts. While traveling, the scanner is perfect for digitizing receipts, expense sheets, and business cards. This compact scanner fits easily in your briefcase or backpack, measuring 12.1″w x 4.4″d x 2.8″h and weighing just 1.44 lbs.
I only see one small draw back with this scanner, and it is a draw back on many iPad accessories. I would like to see a possible connection between the iPad and the scanner vs the necessity to dock the iPad. The reason for this is my iPad case. I have the indestructible case of all cases the Otterbox Defender case. It took me about 15 minutes and one broken nail for me to remove my case in order to dock it and use the scanner. I can see this limited how much I would use the scanner. Other then this small dislike I think this scanner is one COOL gadget!
I have to give a big thanks to Brookstone for allowing me to give YOU a chance to win your own iConvert Scanner valued at $149.99 today here at Shibley Smiles.
