When Buddy entered 6th grade he became a whole new kid. No longer was he the son that couldn’t do homework without me. No longer did he need to be reminded to DO his homework. It was like he walked through some magic door that transformed him into a responsible student. Once he hit middle school his grades became important to HIM. He doesn’t get good grades because we want him to, but because he feels he needs too. Ever since 6th grade my son has wanted to bring home straight A’s. And ever since 6th grade it has eluded him, sometimes but just a high B. I’m proud to say that, that is not the case anymore. Introducing my “Smarty Pants”! The first quarter grades were just published and guess who got straight A’s?
Though I am proud of my son’s excellent report card. What I am most proud of is his determination to accomplish what he wanted. The fact that he feels it is important to get good grades with no pressure from me makes me feel like somewhere along the lines some good parenting had to have been thrown in. I am so proud of my Buddy!
