Sorry couldn’t help myself when I saw the word “Griddler” it conjures up a spooky face from the Batman movies. However the Griddler is not to be confused with anything other then an awesome multipurpose cooking tool. Many moons ago my husband purchased a griddle for me for Christmas. I have used that griddle more often then many of the cooking products I own. I love pancakes and I usually make them every weekend. Last week I was introduced to the Griddler by Cuisinart sold at Best Buy.
What I didn’t know was how the Griddler is not just a griddle. It is a 5 in 1 cooking tool. You can use the Griddler as a contact grill, panini press, full grill, full griddle, or half grill/half griddle. In addition to these five uses if you purchases the waffle plates (additional accessory not included) you can turn your Griddler into a waffle iron. This is definitely on my “must purchase” list. While I love pancakes the rest of my family prefers waffles.
My first testing of the Griddler of course was to make up a batch of homemade pancakes.
There are three knobs on the front of the Griddler giving you the option to use as a griddle selecting your temperature or as a grill/panini selecting a how much heat you want (medium, high, etc.)
The Griddler worked like a charm heating up quickly and cooking my pancakes to perfection. I did find that left side of the griddle seemed to work a little faster then the right.
I can tell you immediately the first thing that really set the Griddler apart from my traditional griddle is the ability to remove the plates for cleaning. I absolutely love products that are designed with removable parts. You can’t submerge a traditional griddle or grill in water so I always found it tough to get completely clean. With the Griddler you can remove the plates to clean and easily re-attach. The plates are nonstick and dishwasher safe, however I found it just as easy to hand clean them.
There are many easy functions of the Griddler including the controls I mentioned above, a drip tray to collect grease, easy removable trays, hinge release lever to turn your press into a flat griddle/grill, and both griddle plates and grill plates.
I love the Griddler for its versatility and was surprised to find this was something that could be purchased at Best Buy. It really is an all in one cooking tool. You can fry eggs and grill bacon at the same time on the Griddler. Or grill stake and cook vegetables. All of this can be accomplished by using one side as a grill and the other as a griddle. Due to the press like feature it is easy to make panini sandwiches, grilled cheese sandwiches, or even quesadillas.
In conjunction with the Griddler I also had the pleasure of trying some additional cooking tools. I was introduced to a new brand called OXO, a new brand for me at least. I was very impressed with quality of their products. I have yet to decide what to put in my OXO – Good Grips POP 1.5-Quart Container or OXO – Good Grips POP 2.4-Quart Container. I can’t decided if I want to put my Bisquick, cereal, snacks, or something entirely different.
What I do know is I love how to remove the top by a simple press of the button and the rubber seal that keeps the items inside the containers fresh! So what do you think I should use my OXO containers for?
I also love the OXO Good Grips 24 Oz Water Bottle. It has become my new best friend. The small ring makes it easy to carry and it has a twist top to store your straw (so it doesn’t spill). My only critique is I would like to see this come in a 32 oz bottle.
Overall I as introduced to new products and new brands all of which can be found at Best Buy. Best Buy is not just a place to purchase electronics like TV’s, computers, camera’s, etc. As you can see above they have your average small kitchen appliance and baking tools as well.
