Living in South Florida sunscreen is a must. Pretty much after our two weeks of spring the sun beats down on us like a stove frying bacon. You have to be careful around here if you intend to spend any time outdoors. Sunscreen has involved over the years from the paste like white noses and thick creams to an aerosol easy to spray can. I have to admit the ease of spraying instead of rubbing sunscreen on three children eager to get off and running is very enticing.
This weekend we were able to try out for the first time our Neutrogena Wet Skin Sunscreen products. We received Wet Skin in SPF of 30, 50, 70, and 85. I usually put 30 to 50 on the children and decided to go with the 30. However that turned out to be a mistake on my part, as well as not reapplying enough. I doused the kids with Wet Skin SPF 30, my daughter actually did well with it, her arms and body have a slight tan color but no burning. With my oldest son however I should have went with the 50 or 70, he burns easily. It was only his shoulders that seemed to be effected, and was not the fault of the sunscreen but my choice of SPF and not reapplying it enough in the 4 hours we were in the sun. Considering how much the children were in the pool the sunscreen did very well. The Florida heat was extremely hot and it is normal for my son to burn no matter what I put on him.
My only dislike with the Neutrogena Wet Skin line was the smell. The weird thing is the smell is only noticeable when you first spray. It is almost like a bug spray type of smell, however after you are done you can’t smell it at all on your skin so I guess in that sense it is pretty good. Better to smell it a little at first then to have it linger on your skin.
What I love most is that you can put the sunscreen on when wet or dry. The majority of the time my children have already found the water while I’m still unpacking bags and getting things situated. Usually they have to come out, dry off, and then I apply. This weekend was the same as usual but because I had the Neutrogena Wet Skin I felt comfortable applying it to them right out of the water.
Kids never sit still long enough to dry off, but new Wet Skin Kids promises full strength sun protection even on wet skin. Wet Skin Kids provides broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection and mists right on for protection from the sun’s harsh rays. It’s the quickest way to fully protect your kids when they’re in and out of the water.
