This year we have begun to switch out each DVD player with a Blu-ray player. After all with my love of technology and electronic gadgets you know I just have to have the newest gadgets. Recently I purchased a Blu-ray player for my husband for Christmas to replace the one in our living room. We haven’t yet used it to its full potential but it is small, sleek and works great so far.
The DVD player in our bedroom is definitely one of the electronics on its last leg. Each time we go to use it, it is like spinning the wheel of luck. Will it work? Or won’t it? It probably works about 50% of the time and when it does that doesn’t mean it will last. It was one of those DVD and VHS together type of machines. We turned to UNEEDIT.com when it came time to replace our DVD player.

So now that I have this Sony Blu-ray player you know what I really need? A 3D TV to try out the Blu-ray 3D playback capability that is built in. Have you tried out one of the 3D TV’s? My daughter and I were at Best Buy a couple weekends ago and they are all set up for testing. Talk about the wave of the future! Other then wearing the annoying glasses it seems totally cool.
Since we are not quite their yet I can’t really comment on this feature of the Sony Blu-ray player. However we have hooked it up and replaced the old DVD player with this new one and so far we have had no problems. Each time we have used it, miraculously it works. I say that only because my husband and I have a long history with not so worthy DVD players.
In addition to the normal play back and 3D playback capabilities this Sony Blu-ray player has the ability to instantly stream movies, videos, music, and more from popular sites such as Netfilx, Amazon Video, YouTube, Pandora, and many more. I admit I have not yet had the opportunity to try this feature out as well. I currently do not have a Netflix membership I barely have time to sleep let along spend a couple hours watching a movie. However I do tend to try out this feature in the near future and will be updating this review with my thoughts.
Overall the Sony Blu-ray player works as expected, it is quick and has great picture and sound quality. It was easy to hook up with instructions included if you need them. My husband hooked it up so as we all know there was no instruction using going on. Thankfully it went well and worked perfect on the first try! It did walk you through connecting to your Wi-Fi or wired network however we skipped that portion for the time being. However I will be revisiting because, well it just sounds cool! Everything I own these days are tied to my in-house wireless network why should my Blu-ray player be left out.
I’m excited to give you the chance to win your own Sony Blu-Ray player right here at Shibley Smiles!
