As a blogger and mother I often find myself in a situation where I’ve depleted the battery on my phone and no where near an outlet to recharge. In fact I’ve run into this one too many times. With the kids using my phone as a gaming system they can easily run down the battery to 1%. When I attended my first BlogHer conference in 2011 I saw bloggers pulling mobile battery chargers out of their purse. I thought to myself I so have to get one of those.
It was a year later that I purchased one but unfortunately I did not purchase a decent one. It was cheap and rarely held a charge so I tossed it. I recently had the opportunity to review the GearPower Mobile Power Station 4400. I could tell immediately that it was a better charger, it had weight and felt like a much better quality product.
The GearPower Mobile Power Station 4400 can charge must phones, tablets, and other mobile devices. It comes with five adapters:
- 1 x Samsung
- 1 x Sony Ericsson
- 1 x Nokia
- 1 x Micro USB
- 1 x Mini USB
It must have been a long day when I started to review the Mobile Power Station because for the life of me I couldn’t figure out how to charge my iPhone and iPad seeing that none of the adapters were for these devices. Then my “duh” moment arrived and I realized you have to have your own charger and plug it into the USB port on the Mobile Power Station.
Two differences I immediately liked better then the cheaper Mobile Power Station I had before is the carrying case. I love the case it gives me a place to hold the adapters and charger itself, making it easy to find in my purse (if there is such a thing). I also like that you can check to see how much power is left on the charger. The previous charger did not have this option and sure enough the one time I needed it there was no charge, however I had no idea without trying to use it. With the GearPower Mobile Power Station 4400 you simply hit the battery capacity button and check how many lights light up:
- One light : less then 20%
- Two lights: between 20-40%
- Three lights: between 40-60%
- Four lights: between 60-80%
- Five lights: between 80-100%

The only thing I would like to know is how long the charge will hold. If I charge it up to 100% and throw it in my purse, if I don’t need it for two weeks will the charge still be there? I could not find this information in any of the manuals or website. However other then this one piece of knowledge I absolutely love the GearPower Mobile Power Station 4400. It is great for traveling, camping, vacation, commuting, and anywhere you don’t have an outlet handy!
