The Skinny on My Skincare Regimen

So did your mother ever tell you that whatever you do take care of your skin? Honestly I don’t remember if my mother ever did or not but I feel it is an important part of feeling and looking good. Because I feel this way I do my best to let my daughter participate in my skincare regimen so she too will make it a daily part of her life.

There are so many skin care products out there it is hard to tell which ones are good and which ones maybe not so much. What I’ve found is there is no right or wrong it is what works for you. For example I gave my sister a recommendation and she absolutely did not like the brand at all. That brand is Cetaphil, and it is my preferred brand when it comes to taking care of my skin. I came across Cetaphil in a magazine and decided to give it a try, then a couple months later when I was treated to a facial for my birthday and the girl asked me what I used I told her Cetaphil. She said it was a great product to use and I was sold.

I consider my skin for the most part normal. Occasionally during the winter months it will be come dry and during the summer months oily but for the most part if I take care of it properly it tends to stay normal. My skincare regimen is a two part process.

Morning is a time to wake up and just refresh my face after sleeping on it all night. I splash my face with a little cold water, the with warm water cleanse my face with my cleaner, wipe it off with a warm wash cloth, and then splash it once again with cold water. The reason for the cold and warm is the warm water opens up the pores so the cleaner can do its job. However you want to close the pores with cold water help prevent make-up and dirt from getting in. I always follow up with a moisturizer. This really helps my make-up go on more smoothly.

My night time regimen is a little more extensive. I have to remove the make-up and grime from the work day. I feel so refreshed and clean when it is all gone. I start out pretty much the same splashing with cold then warm water. However next I remove my eye make-up. I’ve found what works best for me is a specialized eye make-up remover. Regular cleanser just doesn’t seem to cut it. Next I cleanse my skin and wipe with a warm washcloth. Then I cleanse again using my beloved Nutrasonic brush. I just LOVE my brush. I liked to clean once to remove the majority of the make-up before I use the Nutrasonic brush. Like the morning I follow up with a moisturizer.

Now once in a while I do like to treat myself to a little mommy pampering. When I was shopping for my Cetaphil this weekend I came across this mask that looked interesting. The mask came in quite a variety of umm…flavors is not really the correct word as I had no intentions of eating it. Either way I chose this Fudge Sauna because it just sounded delightful. Can I just say WOW! When they said this mask was self heating they were not kidding. It takes a matter of seconds for it to start to heat up as you massage it into your face. It felt wonderful. When I was all done my skin felt silky smooth and clean as a whistle.
