Everywhere around the country children are either back in school or preparing to go back soon. Here in South Florida my kids officially started school on Monday. As we wait to find out if school will be in session this Monday (due to Isaac), that doesn’t stop me from putting together a long list of school supplies still needed for the kids. Our usual routine is to purchase the supplies on the list provided to us before school starts and then we have to make one more trip after the teachers ask for additional supplies.
Boys and Girls Club and Disney know how important it is for kids to have the supplies needed to succeed in school. This is why they have started the Tools for Back to School Initiative. You can help and have a little fun in the process. Just hope on over an play a little Boys and Girls Club quiz. Get 5 answers correct and Disney will donate school supplies to a Club Kid. How is that for doing your part and helping out? All you have to do is play a game.
Keeping kids prepared for school means getting them on a better sleeping routine, getting their mind prepared for learning, and of course buying a boat load of school supplies. JcPenney’s knows that not all kids have the luxury of running out and purchasing the many supplies needed and they too are dedicated to helping the Boys and Girls Club with this task. In addition to their Free Haircut initiative you can help donate to the Boys and Girls club during your normal back to school shopping trip. Just round up your total and the cash register to benefit the Boys and Girls Club.
Stop by the Boys and Girls Club website for some great tips for you and your children on: Time Management, College, Setting Goals, and Being ready. You can print out the sheets for easy access later. Here is a quick snapshot of some of the tips to help your children set goals.
While not all of my kids are excited to be back in school I am thankful that I can get them the supplies they need and even help out a little for those that can’t. I encourage you to stop by and play the game and if you are shopping at JcPenney’s it won’t hurt to round up your purchase the most it would cost is .99 cents.
