When we were young and we spent our days living outside we were constantly running in for a drink. That drink was Kool-aid. Much cheaper then soda and comes in lots of flavors. However do you remember making it with cups and cups of sugar? While I think Kool-aid and juices are better then soda I would much prefer my kids quench their thirst with water.
I’m a plain water drinker, no flavors, to extras. However the kids have always enjoyed flavor over plain old water. When I can get them to drink water that is. I was recently sent a sample of Vita Coco Kids, a flavored coconut water made for kids. It comes in three great flavors Apple Island, Paradise Punch, and Very Cherry Beach.
I absolutely love the packaging on these good for you drinks. The beach/paradise theme has always been one of my favorites, just the packaging alone caught my eye. So lets check out the most important part of a food package….the nutritionally information!
Only 35 calories for one drink, and a lot less sugar then many of the drinks available to our kids. It also has no artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, or sweeteners. I let the kids give them a try, or at least my youngest son and daughter, my oldest son doesn’t try much of anything. My son preferred the Vita Coco Kids to plain water and my daughter preferred just plain water, but to be fair she is not much of a fruity drinker. My son on the other hand loves red Kool-aid, and flavored anything!
With only 35 calories and 8 grams of sugar per 6 fl. oz. unit, Vita Coco Kids has fewer calories and approximately half the sugar of most other children’s beverages, and no artificial sweeteners. Vita Coco Kids beverages provide potassium – a nutrient that both children and adults don’t get enough of, according to the US Dietary Guidelines. All three flavors contain natural, nutrient-dense and electrolyte-filled coconut water, filtered water, natural fruit flavors and vitamin C.
When we make a point to plan a family beach day we always bring drinks with us. It is hard to set out in the 90 + degrees without getting thirsty. Taking the Vita Coco Kids with us is such a better option to soda. The Vita Coco Kids also includes electrolytes. Today I’m giving you a chance to win a sample pack (includes all flavors) of the Vita Coco Kids so your kids can give them a try as well. I promise the entry is quick, easy, and painless!
