It is one of my favorite times of the year, it is Halloween once again. I know the time will come when I don’t have to spend money on costumes, get to stay in and actually hand out candy, and when the children move from trick or treating to Halloween parties. When this time approaches I plan on taking that money and spending it on Halloween decorations both bought and made. I want to have the spookiest house on the block. I don’t want the Halloween spirit to ever fade.
One of our Halloween traditions was created recently by my mother. When Honey was just under one, one year my mother and her husband and family, my sister and hers, and mine met at a park to carve pumpkins (or should I say I carved pumpkins). We brought food and just had a relaxing day with family. Since then we have been going back to the same park every year to carve, or paint our pumpkins and enjoy each other. This year will be our 6th year in holding our Annual Pumpkin Party. This has become our Halloween tradition and the children look forward to it. This year my children are going back to carving, which works out well since I entered the pumpkin carving contest at work. Now I just need to come up with a cool design.
This year before the party (which is this Sunday) I searched for some fun party ideas. You can check out some that I found here : Tombstones Halloween Party kit
You can download some great recipes like Haunted Cookie Cupcakes, Bone Chillin’ Brew, and Spiderweb Munch. Of course I would love to make the cupcakes if I had a fully functional oven (note to self you MUST find a new baking element so you can use your oven again). You can download some fun Halloween inspired games : Pumpkin Bowling, Mummy Wrap, and Monster Mash-Ups. Besides these two fun and sure to be a hit party items you can find some Tombstone Tips, Devilish Decorating downloads, and spookify your photos while you are there.
Have you tried Tombstone pizza before? With such a name it sounds like it could easily be the official Halloween Pizza, you know “Tombstone” and all. We usually keep a frozen pizza on hand in our freezer for a quick and easy meal. We do not however just pop our pizza’s in the oven. They must get a little doctoring first. We love to add our own ingredients like ham, pineapple, bacon, and of course some extra cheese!
I would love to hear about your own Halloween traditions.
