Halloween is fun! Halloween is creative! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I can’t remember a year where I didn’t carve a pumpkin or two. I loved creating and making fun Halloween costumes when I was young and enjoyed it just as much I had my own children. For the first couple of years I made my boys’ Halloween costumes. Until they got to an age when they wanted to buy their own costumes. By the time Honey was old enough to decide what she wanted to be for Halloween she wanted to be like her brothers and buy her costume as well.
As soon as October rolled around we began getting ready for the fun holiday. We went did some fun Halloween crafts like our Halloween mason jars and the Halloween horror house. So last weekend Honey and I set off for Target to do some Halloween shopping. First up of course was trying to find Honey the perfect Halloween costume. She told me originally she wanted to be a “beauty pageant winner”, now if you know my daughter you probably, like me, would look at her like she had two heads. However I didn’t and instead we looked at all the dress like costumes at Target.
After much searching it turned out Honey decided to go a different direction with her costume. One that is definitely more suited to her personality (that is another post). So we moved on from costumes to decorations. If I had it my way I would do up my front yard like a grave yard with fog and all. Tombstones, skeletons, creepy sounds, and all. However we decided to concentrate on our entry and foyer area in our house and found all kinds of inexpensive goodies at Target.
If Honey was in charge of this shopping spree we would have had enough decorations to decorate the whole house. She loved everything, I think she has definitely taken on my love of the creative holiday. She really wanted to get this fun candy bowl to set out while we are trick or treating.
We had a great time shopping and decorating and we even picked up a small craft Honey is working on to decorate her desk at school.
Are you ready for Halloween? What are your children going to be for Halloween?
