My youngest baby is now 8 years old. 8 years ago I got to decide what day my daughter would be born. I had a planned c-section due to two previous c-sections. My choices were October 31st or November 1st. Not wanting to have her share her birthday with a holiday I decided on Tuesday November 1st. Ericka, named in honor of her grandfather, was born on the heels of Hurricane Wilma. She is sweet yet stubborn. She is intelligent and caring. She holds the title of the only granddaughter on my side of the family and will forever hold that title. This weekend we had her birthday party at the house, not by my choice but by hers. As a last moment thought I decided to rent a bounce house and it turned out to be a great decision.
The kids had a blast, and while I thought I needed to have other things to entertain it turned out the bounce house was enough. I think they spent the whole three hours bouncing, sliding, and splashing. As usually I made WAY too much food and found that a party at home is not always the inexpensive way to go. Looking at that smile above though, and I know we did good!
Honey is a very independent and very opinionated when it goes to what she will wear, play with, or just about anything she does. So instead of trying to figure out what to buy her for her birthday Daddy took her to Toys “R” Us and told her she could by whatever she wanted. After picking up a few Littlest Pet Shop toys she said she was done. What child picks up $30 with of toys in a toy store and says she is done? I walked with her some more through the store and she came across the Lego Friend sets that were designed to appeal to girls. I guess it worked because she decided to add them to her cart.
I thought she was going to need a little help putting these together but really why would I think that? After all she is a girl (who can follow directions) and she is my daughter after all. She had no problem flipping through the pages and putting her little Vet shop together. She enjoyed it so much that I got her one for her birthday and so did her Aunt. As of Sunday evening they have all been put together and they are just the cutest toys!
The party was a hit and Honey wore a smile all weekend, well except when she was arguing with her brothers!

Happy birthday! So you didn’t name her Wilma? 😉

LOL nope but that actually was my grandmother’s name so it could have had a double meaning.

Looks like it was a fun day she will remember for a long time! I could never walk into a store and tell my children to pick something, I would be in trouble! LOL

I’m laughing at the arguing (I have four brothers), but I’m so glad she finally picked out some fun birthday gifts!

Those toys are super cute but not as cute as your daughter! I’m so glad she had a good birthday, and you are SUCH a cool mom for getting a bounce house!

That looks like it was a lot of fun! I got to choose one of my daughters’ induction dates and also pushed it back a day to miss a holiday. 🙂

I never got to choose a date however my daughter did and my granddaughter was born on my late husband’s birthday and we celebrate her birthday and his life every year.

Looks like such a great party!! My daughter LOVES Lego girls. Her brother normally puts them together for her, though. She still gets frustrated at 6
