I love finding new places to shop, and during the holidays we are all doing a lot of shopping (sometimes too much). Afterschool.com is a new site from the folks that brought you Diapers.com and dedicated to kids’ activities with an amazing lineup of sports gear, dance wear, bikes & scooters, and athletic footwear and apparel for all seasons. I had the pleasure of poking around in order to spend a little bit of Holiday cash. With two boys (three if you count the hubby) sports are a big focus in our house. My youngest son has played football, baseball, and soccer.
I wasn’t really sure what I was looking for when I visited, but saw that there were several higher tiered topics to chose from:
I decided to start with team sports since both of the boys play recreational sports. They both played soccer this past season and want to play again before my older son gets too old to be on the same league with his brother. My oldest son needs new shoes (he is growing like a weed) and a new ball. Once I selected soccer I had several options to chose from. I could chose a category, who I’m shopping for, brands, types of products, or rating.
Since the site is geared toward youth activities it turns out the shoes were too small, my boys are right on the edge of boys/mens. However I was able to pick up a soccer ball. I spent over an hour browsing the site looking for items for all my children (and even myself) the best features is the drill down feature. There is nothing worse then looking through a bunch of apparel or shoes to find what you want is never in the right size. I was able to click on Shoes & Apparel, then chose what I wanted my first drill down to be. I decided size was the must important so I was able to drill down by size and received matches to all apparel in those sizes. Definitely an important feature. This really helped from wasting time.
There are also some really handy tools for first time sports parents or anyone who just needs a little refresher on what to purchase for the season:
Gear Checklists: These checklists showcase must-have gear for any activity, saving time and eliminating any guesswork.
Gear Guides: These helpful guides quickly present exactly what parents need to know to find the right baseball bat, mitt, tennis racquet or other piece of equipment for their child.
I also noticed when I found something I wanted to purchase there were some “others also bought these items”. When I clicked on one I found an entire section of Fitness items that I did not see on the main menu (I’ve let them know just in case they want to include it, it is a great addition). Though I was there to check out Afterschool.com I couldn’t help but notice the additional places to purchase from.
No matter which one you purchase from it all goes to one cart and you can check out one time. Love this ability, however I stock withwhen placing my order.
I can’t wait to give Honey her shoes, these are so her! She doesn’t do “white” she loves black. She wears it in a fashionable way and it is just her. One nice thing I noticed when I checked out was the free shipping. With all the money I’m spending on the holidays I can get all the help I can get. I absolutely HATE paying for shipping but I love shopping online so this was definitely a plus! If that isn’t enough as a first time shopper you can also get 30% off one item at Afterschool.com, YoYo.com, or Bookworm.com.
Though I stayed to one theme looking for soccer items for the boys and some shoes for my daughter there are many other things to chose from at Afterschool.com, from fitness to games and even crafts! You will be sure to find something for your holiday needs. To help narrow your search Afterschool.com has set up a special gift guide section to help you find something special. You can also find some of your favorite sports team merchandise in the.
