Before I began blogging one of my favorite past times was playing games on the computer. You could often find me on Pogo or Facebook trying to beat a score or win a badge. One of my all time favorite games is Bejeweled by Pop Cap Games. I became addicted to this game through Facebook. Enjoying trying to be the leader amongst my Facebook friends. Shortly there after I found the version for my iPhone for just $2.99 and downloaded it immediately.
I can’t tell you how many times this game has come in handy while waiting for the boys at sports practices, or in a doctors office or just stuck somewhere with nothing to do. This game is fun and addicting. The best part is it is short and sweet so you can always put it down when you tire of it and come back later.
I was so excited when I heard they were coming up with a new version Bejeweled 3. I couldn’t imagine how they could improve without changing the game so much that it was no longer fun. Boy was I wrong! My son and I got a chance to review the new Bejeweled 3.
One thing that keeps me coming back for more in a game is the ability to advance, win badges, or stay on top of the leader board. Bejeweled 3 does not disappoint. There are 4 different modes and in each mode you can advance to a secret mode if you reach a certain level. In Quest mode you play additional mini games to advance through the level. It is like tons of games all wrapped up in one.
Journey through 40 magical new puzzles in this multi-faceted challenge. Rescue butterfly gems, dig through diamond mines, battle ice storms, and much more. Can you conquer the ultimate Bejeweled Quest?
Enjoy a revolutionary new way to relax as you match gems in this endless game. Tailor your experience with deep breathing, ambient sounds, binaural beats and positive mantras to create your very own relaxing retreat.
Charge up with a challenging timed game of heart-pounding, gem-blasting fun! You have 60 seconds to rack up the highest score you can. Earn extra time with special gems and move fast for a Blazing Speed bonus.
Play the most popular puzzle game of the century with exciting new gameplay and gorgeous high-definition artwork. Match 3 or more gems for cascades of fun and experience the sparkling new world of Bejeweled.
Both my son and I enjoyed most the Poker Mode that you unlock when reaching level 5 in classic mode. It is challenging and fun all at the same time. My daughter loved the Butterfly mode, well that is the girl in her for sure.
You can download a free trial of Bejeweled 3 from Pop Cap before you purchase. The retail price is $19.95. Before I had the chance to review Bejeweled 3 I had already purchased Bejeweled Blitz, like I said I’m a huge fan. One of the neat features in both games is badges for meeting certain requirements and levels.
“The challenge in creating a new version of Bejeweled is to innovate and keep it fresh and exciting without losing touch with the game-play that millions of people love. So we’re very careful when we make changes to the core game, which is why it can take so long!” said Jason Kapalka, co-founder and chief creative officer at PopCap and co-creator of Bejeweled. “We’ve worked hard to make sure Bejeweled 3 retains the classic appeal of the earlier games while bringing a host of exciting new features to the table.”
Since its introduction 10 years ago, Bejeweled has become one of the top 10 video game franchises in history. More than half a billion people worldwide have played the game, and over 50 million units have been sold across 17 platforms. An estimated 7.5 billion hours have been spent playing Bejeweled, and the game continues to sell at the rate of one copy every 4.3 seconds.
