If you are a long time reader of Shibley Smiles then it is no secret that I love Bob Harper. I am a loyal fan of The Biggest Loser and met Bob Harper during a conference. I’ve mentioned many times about his spirit and energy and how catchy it is just being in his presence. So when I received a request to try out Bob Harper’s Smart Success supplements I thought it would be a great fit for Shibley Smiles.
I’ve been on again off again with my weight loss now for the past almost two years. Recently I proclaimed 2012 as the year of Health for the Shibley family. I started out strong for a good two weeks before my mind got the better of me. So once again I’m back at it with confessions of past failures and promises of future success.
Starting today I will begin the Bob Harper Smart Success Smart Weight Loss supplements. I already have my weekly vitamin container prepared for the week. I received the Smart Weight Loss Starter program that includes morning and evening supplements for a week and a DVD. I also received an additional box of the supplements, a multi-vitamin, and a 7-Day Cleanse. I’m committed to trying this for one week and updating you with my results.
My initial thoughts of the program are still undecided. One thing that I did not agree with is on the box of supplements it states you should eat three meals and do not snack in between or after dinner. I disagree with this method of eating, I have always been a believer in the 5 small meals a day. For the purpose of this review I will be eating healthy on my own terms and exercising while taking the supplements. I will not be following the 5 Day Meal plan that is mentioned. The meals top 1600 calories and as I stated are simply lunch, breakfast, and dinner. I’m not going to argue with a trainer such as Bob Harper but I really believe in the 5 meals per day.
I have read a few other reviews of this product both positive an negative. I believe the biggest issue some people have mentioned is the caffeine in the product bothered them or caused loss of sleep. I have taken many supplements like this and usually can tolerate them so I do not believe that will be an issue. I do have to be careful regarding taking them to late in the day or I end up having a hard time falling a sleep. I do like the idea of a PM pill that is void of the caffeine and energy boosting ingredients.
The start program itself comes with a small booklet that includes the 5 day meal plan. The meal plan is spelled out as to what to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The foods Bob recommends are what one would expect, lean proteins, good fats, whole grain breads and other healthy carbohydrates. I also agree with the theory of tapering off carbs as you go through your day, ending with what Bob says is a lean and green dinner. Dinner is the one meal that you should shy away from carbs. Carbohydrates are energy and are not needed towards the end of your day.
I watched some of the DVD that is provided in the 7 day start program. The introduction was motivating and it was great to learn a little more personal information about Bob. The smart eating tips I found to be more of an obvious set of tips, but that could be due to my prior knowledge. I do believe I have a pretty good idea of what and how to lose weight even though I do struggle doing so myself.
So today I begin the program and reluctantly only for the purpose of this review will weigh myself.
My starting weight today is: 178.2
