Every time my husband and I would pass a caricature booth at an event or amusement park he always says he wants to get one done. So this past weekend when we were at the fair, I decided we were definitely going to do it. Each of us sat while our artist drew our caricature
A caricature is a portrait that exaggerates or distorts the essence of a person, animal, or object to create an easily identifiable visual likeness. In literature, a caricature is a description of a person using exaggeration of some characteristics and oversimplification of others.
It was fun, but there is one thing I wish we would have done. I wish we would have really looked at each artist and picked one. Instead we went with the artist that approached us. Don’t get me wrong I think it is cute (not real thrilled with the HUGE teeth). I just am not really keen on the angles. After ours was done I looked around and preferred an artist that used more round touches.
What was interesting was watching my daughter. My daughter, like me, is artistic and she studied this girl as she drew the photos and commented on what she was doing.
