Thanksgiving is only a couple weeks away and I’m busy planning festivities, as I’m sure most people are. It’s a time for thanks and for giving. I’m so thankful for my kids, my husband, and my family. I’m thankful we have a home to live and spend time together in. I’m thankful for Black Friday and Cyber Monday so I can plan some shopping strategies to snag amazing deals. Getting together with family for good food and great company is by far my favorite part of the season, mostly because I truly enjoy giving! I like to have my guests sighing in contentment with a full belly!
Giving Tuesday is a movement hoping to create a national day of giving. Hey, we have National Chocolate Day and National Donut Day, I say a National Giving Day is long over due. Giving Tuesday was in part founded by Discover and they want to help people find their giving spirit.
Discover is offering a 2% match to donations to their Cashback Bonus charitable partners, which range from helping children, veterans and wildlife, among others. As well, all donations made with a Discover Card on Giving Tuesday will have their transaction fees waived. Any Cashback Bonuses can still be used towards donations throughout the rest of the year, visit Discover’s website to see the full list of charities.
I love that there are so many ways to giveback from helping a child, sponsoring a family, or just spending time with someone that is in need of a little company. Of course as I’ve mentioned I LOVE shopping and love that I can give back doing what I love.
When I’m out doing my shopping this Holiday season, I can also redeem any Cashback Bonus towards gift cards from Discover’s merchant partners. Then I can use those gift cards to buy more gifts or use them as gifts themselves. There are many different categories to choose from such as restaurants and department stores among others.
Discover Deals is also offering a 5% CashBack Bonus at merchants such as Michael’s, Crate & Barrel, and Kmart which are great places for buying everything I need to make a Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings to satisfy those full bellies I mentioned before. I can also buy craft supplies to create fun Holiday decorations.

I love shopping for people and finding the perfect gift and of course earning rewards while I’m at it is great.

I can’t deny that I love the food during the holidays 🙂 Giving back is important to us all throughout the year, but we do try and do extra during the holidays. Last night we spend ta couple of hours packing meals with Feed the Hunger to deliver to children in Haiti, not only was it fun but it certainly made us thankful for the abundance and variety of food we have to eat.

We try and give back all year by volunteering, giving at food drives and even tweeting. So many companies on social meedia are doing promos by sharing a hashtag how cool is that?
I think my favorite part of thee Holiday season is ikely when we are able to give to Toys for Tots- I actually see some of the toys that we have given being played with sincee it stays local. Last year we gave some of those skooters and all summer long there were kids riding them- I have combined my love of contests with my love of giving! Although we might not see the smiles when a gift is opened we know its there 🙂

Lots and lots of food during the holidays. It is always a good thing. And a great way to remember how blessed we are. We give to the Salvation Army bell ringers every time we are out and donate to the local food pantry.

My favorite part of the season is spending time with family and friends and eating lots of good food. We donate to our local food bank. Also instead of grown ups buying each other gifts in my family, we do one secret santa gift and then we donate to a local food group or charity.

Spending time with family… I only see my parents three times a year, Thanksgiving being one of the three, so it’s extra special for me. And I love decorating and shopping for family and friends for Christmas!
