Filtered or bottled water is a MUST if Florida. At least that is my strong opinion. If you’ve ever smelled the water you would totally agree. I can always tell when I’m not drinking filtered water. Occasionally at work our water filter will go on the blitz. I can always tell when it does because our ice cubes start to have a funny smell. In this case I must admit I reluctantly grab for a soda.
One thing I love is that our Whirlpool refrigerator has a built in water filter system. This means that I no longer have to lug home gallons of water home each week from the grocery store. Instead I simply purchase a Whirlpool filter about every 3 or so months and I will continue to have clean crisp water.
The other advantage to the refrigerator filter system is that our ice is also from filtered water. Trust me there is no point in drinking filtered water with ice cubes made form good old Florida tap water. Our refrigerator also lets us know when it is time to change. Ok it doesn’t talk to us, it doesn’t taste the water and tell us when it is non longer filtered. It is based on time, once it is time to start thinking about changing our light will change to yellow. It will eventually become read which means WARNING you are drinking tap water!!!
Despite the fact that we refuse to drink tap water I have no problem cooking with it or even making lemonade and kool-aid with it. I guess the flavored drink mix masks the smell and flavor you get with pure tap water. Of course when I cook with it you can’t taste the water anyway.
I’m curious to know if you drink filtered or bottled water? If you do is it out of necessity our because you prefer it? When I use to visit my father in Michigan in the summers I use to look in the refrigerator for the bottled water and he would always ask what I was doing. When I would reply looking for the water he reminded me that I could drink it from the sink. The water was always so cold and tasted good right out of the faucet up North.

We use filtered and tap. It just depends on what I’m doing or cooking.

We’ve filtered our own via Brita pitchers for a long time. Tampa water hasn’t been as bad as some of the other places we’ve lived, but was still a little off on its own. One of the best things we did, though, was bought a reusable bottle for each family member about 2 years ago, and only buy bottled water when we have no other choice.
