Usually I’m pretty up-to-date on the newest technological product. So imagine my surprise when Klout told me I had earned a perk in technology that I had never heard of. Not to mention I found that other people already knew all about it. I had no idea what Eye-Fi was but it sounded cool so I accepted it. When I then learned more about what it was I couldn’t wait to give it a try.
What is Eye-FI (for those that are still trying to catch up like me)
The Eye-Fi card is the 1st wireless memory card. It looks, stores media, and fits into cameras just like a regular SDHC card. On top of that, the Eye-Fi card has built-in Wi-Fi that effortlessly transfers photos and videos to your iPhone, iPad, Android device or computer.
Sounds cool don’t you think? When my card came in a popped it into my camera and was saddened to find out my camera was not compatible. Turns out it was too old and couldn’t handle a SD card over 2GB. That is ok my hubby got me a camera for my birthday and guess what? It was compatible.
So I tested it out and took a few photos. Oh wow in a matter of 15 seconds I saw them downloading to my computer. This is the coolest thing ever! Yes I get excited about advances in technology and more so when I own them. One of the reasons I love this is I can’t tell you how many times I’ve grabbed my camera to take to an event and found it minus an SD card because it was at home in my computer. For some reason my computer will not recognize my camera when I try to link them up so the only way I can get the photos onto my computer is by removing the SD card and using the readable slot on my computer.
So when I forget my SD card and take photos saved to my camera memory the only way I can get them on my computer is to download them on ANOTHER computer, transfer them to a flash drive, then take them from the flash drive to my main computer. Kinda a PITA if you ask me. So this Eye-Fi card is awesome. I tested it out by taking it outside and taking some photos. Then I came in and sat down and as long as the camera is on the Eye-Fi does the rest and they all started downloading to my computer. I’m not quite sure how it knows which ones it has downloaded and which ones it hasn’t but it does.
Do you have an Eye-Fi card? Or how about some other cooler then cool technology that you just wouldn’t want to live without!

Surprisingly, I had not heard of this. Very cool, but since my iPhone is my camera, not something I need. Good to know for future reference though.
