This post brought to you by The Walmart Foundation. All opinions are 100% mine.
Walmart is working with Feeding America and ConAgra, General Mills, Kraft and Kellogg’s to help give support to 21 communities in need. With so many American’s not sure where their next meal is coming from it is important that we do what we can to help those in need.
Between April 9 and April 30 you can help the community of your choice by voting during a Facebook campaign. The communities listed were found to have the highest unemployment rate as by a Department of Labor Report. There are over 200 communities that need your help. Vote to fight spring hunger with Walmart. Walmart will donate a total of $2 million to the 21 communities receiving the most support: $1 million to the winner and $50,000 each to the 20 runners-up.
I saw a few cities that are close to be that I was surprised to see on the list. When I vote I will be voting for Port St. Lucie, FL Metropolitan Statistical Area, as I know several people from this area. After you have placed your vote the best way to help support this initiative is to spread the word and share with others so that they too will vote.
If voting on a Facebook campaign is not how you prefer to help there is an additional way you can show your port to the communities in need. By purchasing select products from ConAgra, General Mills, Kraft and Kellogg’s, customers can donate meals to Feeding America or Action for Healthy Kids, a nonprofit fighting childhood hunger. All you need to do is look for special signage and packaging so that when you purchase these products you know you are making a differeince.
