I spoke not too long ago about the need for filtered water in Florida. I would never drink from an unfiltered water fountain or sink unless it was necessary. I know not everyone shares that feeling but I would say a lot of people here do. When we moved into our new house a couple years ago one thing that I loved was that my Whirlpool refrigerator was equipped with a built in water filer and ice maker. This means I no longer had to purchase and lug home the huge 2 1/2 gallon water from the grocery store.
With the built in filter equipped with my Whirlpool water filter it makes drinking water more convenient then it was before. I can fill my glass up full of ice on one side and then fill up with some clean water on the other. Simple, easy, and results in some cold tasty water.
Our water filter and fridge become very important during the summer when the kids are running around for hours outside in the hot Florida sun. Nothing can quench a thirst like a glass of cold water. Of course this is great if you are always home, but we all know this is not the case. With three kids there are weekends when we are gone for 5-6 hours at a time. When the boys are playing sports they are in need of water to keep them hydrated while out in the sun. We fill up a large water bottle with ice and then with our filtered water and it finds it home in a dugout or on the sidelines of a soccer field often. In addition to the large water bottles for the boys the spectators (Honey, Dad, and I) also need to stay hydrated, so we fill up reusable water bottles for each of us and usually tote them around with us during the day. Not to mention it is cheaper then purchasing water, and it is a better choice for the environment.
