It’s getting close to one of my favorite times of the year, and one of my favorite holidays, Halloween. I’m not sure why I love Halloweenso much but I’m going to surmise that it has to do with the creativity. I really enjoy putting together a unique and fun costume. In the past I was able to create some really cute costumes for my children.
Instead of fighting the crowds at our local party store I decided to do a little online shopping for costumes and who knew maybe I would stumble across some fun decorations as well. When shopping online I went to an old friend Kmart. Our closest Kmart just shut down due to some landlord disputes (I am keeping my eye on a new one popping up soon) so the online was even more convenient for me.
The first thing I noticed when I made my way to the Halloween section was the awesome online only deal of 15% off featured Halloween costumes and Free Shipping on costumes $39.99 and above. With three children I can use all the help I can get.
One thing I do not like to do is scroll through pages and pages of costumes that are not even close to what I’m looking for. So I immediately narrowed my search using the “costume finder”. I was first able to narrow my search to “girls”. Then if I had wanted to I could narrow it further by type of costume, however in our case Honey wasn’t sure what she wanted to be. However the narrow by size is brilliant. There is nothing worse then finding the perfect costume only to find it is not available in your needed size.
Honey and I sat at the computer in our jammies and went through the pretty extensive selections of costumes. I was actually surprised to see the amount as I’ve never had the best of luck finding costume in store. I’ve always felt the selection was limited. I wasn’t surprised at all when Honey selected this Gothic like cheerleader as her first choice. Strangely her favorite colors seem to be either pink/ purple or black. I think she enjoys being unique or maybe she just likes to take after her oldest brother.
After we browsed for Honey’s costume I decided to check out what they had in ways of selections for adults. We usually dress up at work and I always have a hard time finding something that I would like to wear. So the question was?
Since this is a work costume I really have no choice but to go on the “nicer” side. I really love this candy bar costume. I’ve never seen this type of costume. It would work for work as long as it is not “too short”
As I mentioned no Halloween is complete without some fun decorations. One of these days I’m going to be able to decorate like I’ve always wanted. I’ve always wanted to create a spooky graveyard full of tombstones, bones, and creepy sounds. So while I was searching for some unique decorations I happened upon a fog machine, and I also love this skeleton that appears to be coming right out of the ground. Maybe not quite as spooky is this inflatable pumpkin and ghost. I’ve also wanted one of these as well for both Halloween and Christmas.
In addition to decorations I did have some other specific things I was looking for. Each year my mother hosts an annual “Pumpkin Party”. She started it 5 years ago and it has become one of those things that we look forward to each year. In fact one year she was right in the middle of moving during the Halloween season and my sister and I would not let her get out of hosting it. It was a tradition that wasn’t started with fore thought but turned into something I know my children will take with them when they have their own family. They will talk about how each year we had a pumpkin party in the park. Our party is small and consists of my mom, my sister, myself, and a good friend and all of our families. We bring our pumpkins down to our local park and we eat, play football, fly kites, eat, converse, decorate our pumpkins, and did I mention eat? So while shopping online at Kmart I was looking for some party decorations and fun pumpkin kits like the one below. Who said a pumpkin had to only have one face?
Despite my hours of scouring the decorations as I usually do when it comes to spending money the practical side of me emerges. So for that reason my final purchased ended up being these two cute porch greeters. Why is it more practical you may ask? These cute Mickey and Minnie greeters can greet you at the door through the whole fall season not just Halloween.
I added them to my cart and found that Voila! I was given an extra discount. One of the things that I like about the Kmart shopping experience is when you click on an item to see further details in the right hand corner is a box that shows you all the deals you are eligible if you purchase that item.
With my deals in place and my greeters in my cart it was time to check out and decided the ultimate question, not naughty or nice but to ship or to pick up. Again the “practical” shopper in me decided to pick up at the Kmart closest to work. This way I could pick it up easily on my way home. However in my particular case my items were not available for in store pick up. I was happy to at least see this information was given to me a head of time so I could adjust my order. I would have been very disappointed if the order went through only to find out days later that it was not available.
Overall the shopping experience I had at Kmart Halloween online was easy. It was easy to navigate through the costume finder, find some unique Halloween decorations, and the easy of check out was refreshing.
