With the movies that my family and I have been attending lately one thing that has stood out at the Muvico in West Palm Beach is a new movie theater seat called the D-Box. I was wondering how many people had these in their area and if they had tried them out. They are the next level in your movie theater experience.
If you have never heard of D-Box or don’t have one in your theater here is a brief description of them:
D-BOX Technologies designs and manufactures leading edge high- technology motion systems mainly suited to the needs of the entertainment industry. With its unique, patented technology, « D-BOX Motion Code™ » uses motion effects specifically programmed for each film, TV series or video game, which are sent to a motion generating system integrated within either a platform or a seat. The resulting motion is perfectly synchronized with all onscreen action, creating an unmatched realistic immersive experience. To date, D-BOX Motion Code™ is available on more than 900 titles. Accordingly, many prominent Hollywood studios have started embedding D-BOX Motion Code™ on many Blu-ray™ format and theatrical releases. By reaching agreements with the leaders of both the motion picture and gaming industries, D-BOX’s award-winning motion technology is gradually proving itself as a new global standard in the entertainment world.
I looked up how to reserve your D-Box seating and did find that the price of a ticket is about $5.50 above the normal pricing of a movie ticket. I would love to try these at least once but I’m not sure I would pay $5.50 per person each time we visit the movies.
Our movie theater had a D-Box on display for you to test drive so the boys were eager to give them a try. The movie they were synced up with was Super 8. Here is a short video, click you can see how the seats are moving.
I would love to know if you have experienced these during a full length film. If you haven’t would you pay the extra $5.50 to experience them during your movie?

This looks fun!! I would pay for an extra-special occasion, like a birthday OR a special movie that we’ve been waiting for-TRANSFORMERS!!!! It reminds me of the simulator rides that are in the mall or at the zoo…they are fun! Keep us posted if you give it a try!

Maybe they will get them near you (if they don’t) and you can give it a try and report back!

If my boys had anything to do with it, they would want to at least give it a try. Hubby also, me I’m not sure.
Colleen Shibley says
I know a lot of people that would rather be sitting still for their movie LOL

So cool! You are the first that I’ve known that has. I have to try these one time but definitely with an action packed movie.
