Last year my daughter and I attended a Havertys Home Fashion Workshop. I have no problem admitting that decorating and interior design is just not my thing. I can make a Halloween costume, bake a cake, and even draw a mural but I just don’t have the “decorating” thing down.
I picked up a few tips while I was at the Home Fashion Workshop. One of which was you don’t always have to match patterns. You can have a striped accent pillow and one with polka dots. However it is good to keep your big furniture like sofa and love seat a neutral color so you can change out accents to give the room a new look. You can also use different styles of furniture.
I saw a piece of furniture with a beautiful painted scene that really caught my eye. This gave me some inspiration in possibly re-inventing some of my own furniture in the same way. I know painting a design on your own furniture may not be an option That is why it is great you can pick up unique and eye catching pieces at Havertys. This is a great conversation piece when you have visitors.
Another great suggestion from the amazing interior designers was to pick one WOW piece and work your design around that piece. In this photography below the designer chose the octagon table as the piece they wanted to work around. Small accents like lamps and flowers definitely can spruce up a design.
Havertys is holding more workshops this year and now is the time to sign up for them to ensure your spot and get some great decorating tips.

Aww…No CA locations. I suspected so since I’d never heard of Haverty’s. I’ve been married a little over a year, and I’m still trying to clean out, organize, and decorate my husband’s place. I think the worst has been the den/library/familyroom/guestroom/whatever-room. Whatever doesn’t have a place elsewhere usually ends up stuffed back there. With so much in it and no clearly defined spaces, I’m at a loss where to begin.
