April 22, 1970
The idea for Earth Day was born. Senator Nelson recruited Harvard Law School student and environmental activist Denis Hayes to coordinate the events. On April 22, 1970, 20 million people gathered across the country to show their support for the environment on the very first Earth Day.
Things have definitely changed over the years. As a child I don’t remember recycling much. As an adult with children growing up in the current generation we are scolded if we do not recycle. I love that my children are learning about how important recycling is to our environment. You can help support and protect a clean environment. Donate a Photo App
Last year I downloaded the Donate a Photo App, sometimes I just need a little nudge to use it. The free Donate A Photo (DAP) app allows consumers to make a difference by raising money and awareness for causes that they care about through one simple act – taking a photo. For every photo shared through Donate A Photo, Johnson & Johnson will donate one dollar to one of its non-profit partners, which each consumer can choose from a rotating list. We donated a photo today.

I never knew the history of how Earth Day was founded until now! Thanks for sharing that info! It’s almost 45 years old! I’m glad that the country has moved towards recycling being a standard practice everywhere, not just in select cities.
Donna says
I use all those products, too. I’ll do my best to make the Twitter party!

I love Earth Day and have tried reducing my ‘footprint’ more each year. I compost and recycle and drive my family nuts!

I’m so sorry to hear that the party has been postponed. I would have loved to attend.

Looks like the perfect combination of flavors and cuteness.

Thanks for the coupons – we can never have too many band-aids in our home! I love that donate a photo app, I remember doing it last year so a girl could go to school in a 3rd world country 🙂
