This year Honey decided she wanted to take twirling. We have a twirling coach that comes to the school to practice with them twice a week. I have been amazed at how fast she was able to learn everything. Part of the program included walking in two Christmas parades. The girls did so well and were awarded first place in one of the parades. The first parade they walked about 20 minutes. The second parade they walked for a good hour. My poor Honey was getting blisters but didn’t tell anyone and continued twirling. I was proud of the fact that she didn’t want to bow out and continued but my heart hurt knowing that half way through her fingers hurt and she continued. Hopefully next year it will be a little better and maybe we can pick up some tips to help (she did have grip tape on her baton’s so not sure why she got blisters).
As a proud mommy I took tons of pictures and thought I would share a few with you. Sometimes I can’t believe she is only NINE!

How cute! What fun this must have been for her and the others, they sure do grow up fast, hard to believe sometimes. Great pictures.

Yes I know, sometimes I love that she is older and we can do a lot together, other times I wish I was cradling her in my arms. Thank you!

She looks very cute! She must have really been enjoying herself to continue on with blisters. I’m sure she will remember the parade for years to come. My son was in his first Christmas parade this year as a wolf scout, and he really enjoyed it too, even though he said it was exhausting.

She is a trooper she didn’t want her friends to see her hurting or want to quit. It hurt my heart but I was so proud of you. Congrats to your son as well, hope you have a great holiday weekend.

She is absolutely adorable- and every year it is hard to believe she has grown that much (I have followed you awhile) I really like the girls outfits- so bright nd colorful. I bet they had a blast and how nice they camee in first! An hour worth of twirling is tough !

Thank you Ellen, and yep I recognize you each time you post :). I’m so happy to see my daughter find something she loves to do. Hopefully I will be sharing a little more “personal” in the coming year. I hope you had a great Christmas and Happy almost New Year!

She looks so adorable. So glad she had her first twirling parade and looks like she did an amazing job. She’s growing up so fast!

Thank you, and yes I know, unfortunately sometimes that growth comes with a healthy dose of attitude LOL!

What a trooper for sticking it out with blisters! I’m not sure I’d ever be coordinated enough to twirl. I’ve seen those girls in parades and they are incredibly good – I bet Honey has a great future for herself in twirling!
Colleen Shibley says
LOL yeah she tried to teach me and my sister she seems to do it so effortlessly I love to watch her!

How exciting! I’m sorry to hear that she got blisters from twirling, though. 🙁 I remember wanting to be a majorette at her age since that’s what my mom was, alas I never took baton lessons.

Thank you, I think as she gets older she will enjoy it even more.

Ahhh, she is so sweet! I would love it if my daughter would take up twirling or soemthing like it. We’ve done dance for years and I think we all could use a switch.

The parade sounds like so much fun even with the setback of blisters, awesome that she stuck it out!

I forgot about twirling – I like to goof around but never got serious about it. I liked to watch the other kids twirl, and it is really great to be able to twirl. It is a lot of fun, good coordination, and super to be in the parades!!
