Make Money Blogging Series
I’ve written a handful of posts in the past on how to make money blogging. I know that some people think it is a myth that you can make money blogging and make it a full time job. I know I thought it was all just a bunch of baloney when I first decided to monetize my blog. I started monetizing January 2011, and didn’t start to really bring in money until August 2011. I’ve continued my efforts in 2012. I was shocked one day at the beginning of April to open my pay check (from work at my full time job) and find that my gross income was LESS than the income I had taken in from Jan-March 2012 on my blog.
I haven’t given up my full time job though I think I could and make the same if not more money . I’m not a risk taker I need the comfort of a full time job in a stable market so though I make money blogging it is a second course of income for me. This is a personal choice. One of the ways I monetize my blog is through sponsored campaigns. I have two main sources for sponsored campaigns one of them is Social Spark.
I will be up front and honest and let you know that Social Spark is currently running a promotion, the person with the most referrals wins a super duper Mac package. So yes I was prompted to write this post for that reason, however I’m not really pushing this more than this post, but I did want to share with you in case you are new and looking for ways to make make money blogging.
The way that Social Spark works is advertisers will show interest in you by sending you leads. You will get the lead and be able to look through the campaign and see the requirements and if it is a good fit for your blog. The advertisers will also tell you how much they are wanting to pay you for the campaign. You have the option at this time to either show that you are interested in the campaign or decline the campaign. You also have the option of negotiating a different price if you are not happy with the price offered. At this point you have not been approved or accepting for the campaign, you are simply stating you are interested. If you are selected for the campaign you will then receive an offer and given a due date.
So you don’t think I’m pulling your chain and am being honest here is a screen shot of my recent payouts from Social Spark:
Also to show I didn’t do hundreds of post to cash out each amount here is a screen shot of my latest campaigns that I am awaiting payment for. Each point is $.01. So a 20,000 point post is worth $200. I also love that when you cash out to Paypal no fees are taken out you get the exact amount of money that your account states.
There are three tiers of blogs when it comes to compensation, that I am aware of. There is the general tier in which advertisers appear to offer between $15-$25 for a post, however I do know of many people that have negotiated between $50-$100 for their post. There is a Notable Blog, when I was in this tier I was receiving offers of $75 per post. Then there is the Premium tier in which offers usually range from $150-$200. These tiers are based on traffic. I highly recommend that you hook up your Google Analytics account so that Social Spark can accurately determine your traffic and raise you through the different tiers.
