If you are new today I’m sharing what I have learned thanks to other bloggers/friends and my own experience.
Earned Income from 1/1/2011-2/15/2011 (1 1/2 months): $1,212.90
Realized Income (money I have received): $980.99
The difference in earned and realized has to do with some sites that require a certain level to cash out or money that is owed to me that has a slower turn around.
There are so many affiliate programs out there I couldn’t even begin to tell you all of them. Each blogger does better with different programs. I believe this is because of your size, audience, and knowledge of the program. I have only begun to dabble in affiliate programs. They can be quite daunting at first so my recommendation is to chose one and see how it goes and get comfortable before you add another.
In my opinion, more is not always better with affiliate programs. This is due to the cash out levels. If you make a little money on each program it takes you longer to cash out. I myself would prefer to put my energy into one or two programs to reach cash out level sooner. I’m going to list four programs for you in the order of preference.
Sign Up For Amazon Affiliates The reason this is my favorite program is because of how easy it is to insert affiliate links. You earn a commission on all sales that someone clicks on to get to Amazon. They do not have to purchase the item that they clicked on. For example you could be linking to a book review you are doing. Someone clicks on your link and sometime during the day (as the cookie stays on their computer) they purchase a printer. You will earn a percentage on the sale of the printer. There is a tier commission as you continue to earn sales throughout the month. My current earnings at Amazon aren’t extremely high. I’m currently at $9.23. Last month I earned $7.91 multiplied by 12 months equals a total of $94.92. I don’t know about WordPress but on blogger there is an Amazon Associates integration that makes it SUPER easy to insert links into your post. I highly recommend if you sign up with them to go back and add links to old post, especially post that get more traffic then others. You can’t beat this one for the ease of implementing it.
Note: I always keep an Amazon banner on my site so my relatives and friends can come by and click on it before they make a purchase.
Sign up for Logical Media: One of the reasons Logical Media is at the top of my list is because they give you $25 just for signing up. Who doesn’t want $25? However their cash out is $100 which means you have to earn $100 before they cash you out. You also have to wait 60 days from the end of the month in which you reach $100 before they send you the money. This is some of the unrealized money I spoke of up above. I currently have a balance of $105.40. The great thing about Logical Media is they will email you as they get in new campaigns. The BEST way to take advantage of these campaigns is to post about them. You can put a banner on your site however in my experience you earn more when you post. You can earn money in several ways based on the campaign. It could be a per click, per lead, or per purchase.
Per click: means someone has to click on the ad
Per lead: means they have to so something, sign up, submit their zip code, etc.
Per Purchase: means they have to purchase something.
Here are some examples of Affiliate campaigns I have posted: feel free to sign up for any of these that interest you of course 😉
You have to work at these campaigns to get them to earn money. I recommend that you stick with campaigns you yourself feel comfortable entering and fit with your readership. Each campaign will tell you what the payout is and how you can advertise it, however the best way is to post and then tweet and share on facebook.
Sign Up for My Savings: My Savings works exactly the same way as Logical Media does. In fact they often have many of the same campaigns. If you want to work with two programs at the same time these are good to work together with. Some campaigns max out quickly but if you are signed up with both of these you can switch out your links. For example on my Zulily post above, Logical has the campaign so I make my post, let’s say in an hour or few days it maxes out and I’m told the campaign is done. Instead of deactivating my link I can jump over to My Savings and see if they too have an active campaign for Zulily’s and change my link to direct people using my My Savings affiliate link instead. I do recommend however that you chose one as your go to affiliate program so you can cash out quicker. I currently have $54 with My Savings and the cash out is $100.
Sign Up for Escalate Media: Again Escalate is pretty much like the above two programs. However I feel Escalate is extra good for promoting coupons, and survey sites. I can’t say a lot about them because I have been focusing on the two above to reach cash out level. As soon as I reach cash out level at My Savings I will concentrate on Escalate. However my recommendations are the same as above. I currently have $6.91 with Escalate.
Feel free to leave a comment if you have any questions or you can always email me too. I’m always willing to help out where ever I can.
