I had planned on waiting until the end of my week to post my Q & A with Cynthia Sass and myself but I received a question that I thought important to post sooner then later so consider this Part 1 and if more questions come in we will have a Part 2. (Update I see already more have come in I will submit them to Cynthia ASAP)
Also if you have any questions you would like to ask Cynthia or myself you can find the submission form here: Cinch! Ask Cynthia Sass

Q: Cynthia:
Is there a substitute for spinach?? I HATE spinach …. even pieces of spinach mixed in with salad greens. I would like to begin the 5-day jump start, but really can’t eat the spinach. I just started reading the book, so the answer may be in the book, but I would appreciate an answer.
A: Cynthia’s reply:
Can you eat Romaine or red leaf lettuce? They aren’t quite as “powerful” as spinach but you can give them a try!
Q: Colleen:
Do you/does your body feel cleansed?
A: Colleen’s Reply:
Yes! That is one of the first things I noticed. I feel like I have detoxed my body of sugar, and any unwanted waste (for a lack of a better word). It is hard to explain in words but I feel lighter and my cravings are definitely under control

Q: Cynthia:
I am on Day 2 of my Fast Forward. For most of the last 30 hours (when awake of course) I have felt very low energy. Is this normal?
To preface – this is my first attempt at anything like this. I have never had to diet in my life. I have been fortunate and never struggled with my weight. But aging (I am 42), 3 young kids, lessening exercise due to said kids, and eroding eating habits have led to a stubborn 10 pounds I’d like to lose. Seeing the CBS Morning Show blurb on your 5 ingredient, 5-day weight loss program led me to your book. I love all 5 of the ingredients – and figured I can do this! And I am sure I can – I just want to last and not giveway to cravings due to my low energy.
Thank you for developing this great program!
A: Cynthia’s reply:
How you feel during the Fast Forward has a lot to do with how you were eating before and therefore how much of a transition your body has to go through to “reboot” – were you drinking a lot of caffeine &/or eating high amounts of sugar &/or refined carbs before the plan? If so that could temporarily make you feel this way but I think your energy will rise as your body adjusts. If not please know you can stop the detox early and transition to the core plan.

Q: Cynthia:
This first amount of pounds you lose with the fast forward. Wouldn’t this be just water weight? I am assuming we still have to drink a lot of water but I wonder as any fast type of diet, the loss is usually attributed to water weight? Also, I am not so fat in any areas than my stomach. it is sooo huge like I am pregnant. Would this diet help with that?
A: Cynthia’s Reply:
The core plan will help with belly fat (did you see Selena on the Rachael Ray Show? She’s on pg 18 of the book). It’s true that much of the 5 day weight loss is not body fat – it’s water, glycogen (stored carbs) and waste. I talk about this in the book. But the Fast Forward is really not about water vs. fat weight – it’s really about breaking the cycle of chaotic eating, rebooting your body, mind & taste buds, beginning to examine your relationship with food and FEELING successful, motivated and confident. But it’s not for everyone – I have a quiz in the book that helps you decide if this optional phase is for you.
Q: Colleen:
You mention the core program. Are you meaning the actual program in the book or something else?
Thank you for your blogging and help
A: Colleen’s Reply:
I guess I should have explained more but yes the Core program is the basis of the book, it is the program that is not the restrictive 5-Day Fast Forward. Instead of eating just the five foods you eat at each meal a protein, a produce (veggie or fruit), a whole grain, and plant based fat.
I personally wanted to thank each and every one of my readers for taking the time to read my blog and participate with me in this exciting interview!
