With 5 days of such a low caloric intake (@ my calculation under 1100 a day) what can I expect on day ? Will there be temporary weight gain due to the increase in calories? I assume it will go up even if just slightly since the first 5 days is so restrictive. I’m on day 3 and staying strong. Have lost 3.6 pounds so far. I am somewhat worried I’ll never want to eat these 5 ingredients for the rest of my life.:)

Congratulations on your results so far! I hope you are feeling clean and rebooting your body and your taste buds! You know, I really haven’t found this to be the case. The 5 day is strict but because the whole grains are portion controlled, spread out with proper timing and because there is no added salt and sugar nearly everyone has been able to transition to the core plan without a rebound in weight. That was my goal – that the addition of the grains would only be enough to fuel your body, not enough to feed your fat cells or even store excess carbs that were unneeded in the hours after the meals. Now that more people have the plan it will be interesting to see if that trend continues – please let me know!

Can you use egg beaters during the first 5 days? I have high cholesterol and I try to avoid eggs for that matter.
A: Cynthia’s Reply
Yes, please see pg 31 for the guidelines if you don’t want to use egg yolks however I also encourage you to check out the box on pg 46 about eggs and cholesterol.
Q: Cynthia
Is there any other veggie that can substituted for spinach on the five day plan?
A: Cynthia’s Reply
If you truly dislike spinach I don’t want you to have to choke it down! I chose those 5 foods for specific reasons and I did not test the plan with any other foods in terms of results but you can try another leafy green if you’d like. Perhaps Romaine, which is less bitter but would allow you to enjoy a salad and can be cooked. If you need to avoid spinach for a medical reason please speak to your doctor &/or personal dietitian before starting this plan.

Can green and black olives be used interchangeably in the recipes? I love green olives but hate black ones 🙂
A: Cynthia’s Reply
Yes! I love both but certainly you can just use green.

When buying the dark chocolate there are many organic brands with other ingredients such as dried cherries or coconut. Is this acceptable or does it have to be plain dark chocolate? Thanks!
A: Cynthia’s Reply
I think it’s best to use plain. This is what I tested the plan with in terms of results and it tends to melt in your mouth better! But please remember I also include my signature truffle recipes in Chapter 5 which incorporate the SASS seasonings! (Comment from Colleen: I should make this recipe for the you guys and let you know how it taste!)

I am headed out the door to buy the book. Thanks for writing it, Cynthia. I gather that this diet is both salt and sugar free. Which will I miss the most? Which will I have more withdrawal from?
A: Cynthia’s Reply
Thank you for buying the book! Yes it is salt free & no added sugar. The answer to this depends on which you have been eating most in terms of quantity and frequency but I will say that many of the women who tested the plan were shocked at how they experienced withdrawl from neither. One thing you might want to do is read the success stories and quotes, which are sprinkled throughout the book first, then go back to the beginning. They’re very inspiring and will give you an idea of what you might expect!
Q: Colleen
Colleen, were you a bread eater? Do you miss that?
A: Colleen’s Reply
I have definitely always been a carb eater. I love bread, pasta, rice, potatoes. In fact they could be my main meal. However you can still have bread and pasta but whole grain. That seems to satisfy me. If you look at my post from yesterday’s review I had whole grain pasta and corn tortillas and I can’t say enough how yummy the dinner was! I actually have done the very low carb diet before even as a big carb eater I didn’t have any problems staying on track. (Just had a hard time maintaining after wards) For me it is all about getting my cravings under control. I am a FIRM believer that it is the sugar and waiting until you are too hungry that trigger our cravings. As long as I keep my blood sugar level by eating on a regular time interval and stay away from the sugar the loss of white bread and other not so healthy carbs in my diet doesn’t bother me.
Q: Cynthia
When a recipe calls for 3 oz of chicken is that weighed before or after it is cooked?
A: Cynthia’s Reply
Weight after cooking.
Q: Colleen
My husband and I are doing P90X. By doing the Fast Forward plan, are you getting enough energy to then do a rigorous workout?
A: Colleen’s Reply
I definitely have energy that is not a problem. The only workouts I have done are 30 minutes of walk/running. I do feel I would be able to do one if I tried.
Thank you everyone once again!
