It is rare that you meet someone not touched by cancer in one way or another. I have been touched through my loved ones. My grandmother fought long and hard to overcome breast cancer but eventually passed away in 1991. This was hard for me as my grandmother lived on the other side of the country and I was unable to be there for her. My stepfather passed away in 2005 of lung cancer that spread and was unable to be conquered after 14 months. There are so many stories just like these, and we hear them all to often.
I’m sure you too have a cancer story, whether it be a loved one, a friend, or even yourself. That is why I’m excited to remind you of an important campaign in the fight against cancer. Lee National Denim Day® is just around the corner, in just less then a month, on October 4, 2013. Though I can’t bring back those I love. I fully support the efforts to find a cure, and Lee National Denim Day® is just one way everyone can support the fight.
What is Lee National Denim Day®
Lee National Denim Day® is an annual fundraiser supported by Lee® Jeans that has raised more than $89 million for the fight against cancer. In order to join in the movement to rise above breast cancer, participants go casual for a cause and wear their jeans to work on Denim Day® in exchange for a $5 contribution to the fight against breast cancer. This year, Lee National Denim Day® is on Friday, October 4.
At my place of employment we are always trying to find ways to give back. We have a budget set aside for fundraisers and charity work for the employees. Many times my company will match the efforts of the employees in donations. That means my $5 can become $10. All it takes is a little organizing on my part to get my own workplace on board. I encourage you to do the same! You can create your own team and get everything you need to get started participating in the® at DeniumDay.com.
Maybe you don’t work outside of the home and are unable to participate at a “workplace”. That doesn’t mean you can’t participate. You can show your support and wear your jeans on October 4, 2013 and donate directly to family, and communities to do the same. Let’s get this party started!. Tell your friends,
Where Will Your Cancer Donation Go?
The beneficiary for Lee National Denim Day is the American Cancer Society, the largest voluntary health organization in the United States, which is passionately committed to saving lives from cancer. Donations will help the American Cancer Society support life saving screenings in communities nationwide, hope and care to those traveling for cancer treatment and investments in groundbreaking cancer research.
It takes more then wearing a pink ribbon to support the cause and any day is a good day to give back, to donate, and to support. However there is something about joining in a day donated to the cause, it gives you a sense of pride knowing that you are combining your efforts with others to help stop such a terrible disease. Show your support and join in Lee National Denim Day
