Whenever my youngest daughter and her husband go away for days at a time they ask me to come and stay with my grandson. A few years ago Shay won a trip to Australia, so Grandma went and spent 10 days with her grandson, I was loving every minute by the way. Anyway he was allowed to watch TV for 1/2 hour at bedtime, no big deal, I just set the timer on the TV to turn off. Recently they went on a business trip and I stayed at the house for a few nights. My grandson is still allowed to watch TV for 1/2 hour at bedtime, so I set the timer and said goodnight, 1/2 hour goes by and I still hear something in his room, I go in and he is on his phone, playing games, and watching videos. Eventually I had to go in and take the phone away from him. I thought to myself the phone needs a timer too!
Well did you know there is such a thing? It is called Kajeet. If you are like me I felt bad taking something away from my grandson but it was for his own good and like it or not we have to put restriction on such things as game playing, texting, and talking. That is what Kajeet does, developed by three dads, you can limit the time that your child talks, texts and plays games, all set up and controlled from your computer. I really think the feature to turn off the phone at certain times like when your child is in school or late at night controlling their abiility to text or call their friends is awesome but what is even more awesome is that you can call them at that time but no one else can. Another great feature is that you can track where the phone is at all times so if the phone is with your child you know where he/she is or if it is lost you can find out where the phone is.
You can buy your phone from Kajeet they have several to chose from and from May 1st to June 17th they are running a special on their website, you can get 20% off many phones you purchase or you can go online and see if your present device is compatibleyou can go online and see if your present device is compatible.
The service is very reasonable starting at $4.99 per month. When I told my daughter about this service she was very excited stating ” I was just on line trying to find an app to limit his time on his phone.” I am sure she will be checking out Kajeet website for more details and if you have children or know someone that could benefit from this outstanding service, I recommend you check it out too..
Can you use Kajeet and if so what is the feature you like most about Kajeet?

I like the idea of it and it would certainly help keep better track of how long my children stay on my phone. They usually start off on the educational apps but my youngest has a way of getting to the videos.

I like that you can set up time limits. That was a big problem for us when our kids first got their cell phones. Plus it’s cool that you have tracking ability for your child. I really like that feature. $4.99 a month is not bad at all.

I would set up all kinds of limits for my 13 year old! lol

I think that this is a great idea – to be able to set up time limits and to track a child. I wish this had existed years ago.

We should have started my daughter off with something like this. To take advantage of the location tracker, we gave her an older iPhone 3S at first.

That’s a great idea. When I was that age we had a rotary dial phone in the kitchen and that was the only one.

i can’t use it yet because the kids are too young. i may be able to use it in a few years. i love that they are low priced and specifically for kids.

What a great idea! My boys are both bad about being on their phone when they should be sleeping, limits are nice!

This is wonderful, and I could see how it really could help kids, so perfect, so inexpensive and really worth it – I never heard of this before!

We had a Kajeet phone for a while and at the time it was a really good fit for us. We were happy with the service but as our daughter got older we needed more minutes and a upgraded phone.

I love that you can track where the Kajeet phone is at all times and the plan seems so affordable too. I will definitely be checking this out

Our son is 11 and we think he’s still too young for one, but the Kajeet phone might be what he needs.

This is a great idea. Parents can keep control of computer time pretty easily but with so many having net access on their phones this would be great to add to limiting time.

I’ll definitely have to check this out! My kids are all under my plan, and it’s very expensive, like $60 per line. $4.99 sounds so much more reasonable than $60.

My oldest son had one of these, I love all the parental controls that are possible with it.

My daughter has been begging for a phone but I’m so scared for her to have one. I need to look at this option to see if it will work for us.
