I’ve been so busy I didn’t think I had the time to sit down and review and app. Had I know how easy and simple this app was going to be I would have done it days ago. Not only is is simple but it is FUN. Seriously I love it!
We owned a video camera when my youngest son was a toddler and I probably have a couple hours over the course of his childhood. Yes that is 5 years of his life and I have only a couple of hours. After that it has sat in our closet to the point that the battery won’t charge and it is so old I doubt they even make the battery anymore.
With the age of new technology comes video taking from our cameras and phones. I admit I’m the worst at taking video. Or let me expand on that, I’m the worst at sharing my videos. I dutifully take my camera with me to the beach to get a quick video of my son skim boarding or Honey frolicing in the waves. However that is a far as they seem to go. I never seem to find the time to download the video to my computer and then upload them to a site so I can share them.
That is where my new found love of KinKast comes in. This is just what some one like me needs. I am a huge fan of iPhone apps. Well I’m a huge fan of the iPhone. I would be a huge fan of the iPhone 4 if I had one (anyone need me to review one?). KinKast is very simple to use and perfect for my needs, and the best part is it is a FREE app!
There is a 60 second tour on the site but this is the basic idea. You take a video clip on your iPhone through the KinKast app (works just like the video feature). When your done you can share it. You can either share it on Facebook or send it via email. However the person on the other end is not getting a large video to download. They are getting a link to view your video. The person you are sharing with will not need to login to see the video.
Here are the features:
This is definitely an app I will be using, not one that I download and it just sets on my phone. I tested it out so I can give you my feedback regarding the performance. I took a short video of my family room (yeah real exciting-kids were too busy) and a longer video. I emailed each video to myself. It took the longer one a little longer to get to me which makes sense since it has to upload a larger file. I would say a good 5 minutes for a 16 second video so don’t expect your video to fly through cyberspace and be there in a matter of seconds. Just keep that in mind when sending a longer video. I got my email and was able to view my video instantly. It was rather easy.
If you like to take small video clips and share via email or on your Facebook page I think this is a great app!
