daddy mama of all mixers! The KitchenAid 7 Quart Mixer. I am so excited to be kicking of our Countdown to Black Friday event with such an amazing product. I’ve said time and time again here at Shibley Smiles that I am not a cook, however baking is not cooking. I enjoy baking! I’ve always enjoyed making cookies, cakes, bread, etc. during the holidays. I even decorated a cake one year for my mother for Mother’s Day with flowers and all. I’m excited this year to be able to do all my mixing and baking with my brand new KitchenAid Mixer.
What is even more exciting is I get to give one of these mixers away to one of YOU! This would make an excellent present for yourself or even for a family member if you are already lucky enough to own your own. The KitchenAid Mixer I received is Candy Apple Red which just screams “use me”!
While taking a test drive on this baby I found some features that I thought were unique, fun, and innovative and wanted to share them with you. (1) I love the way you can crank the handle on the side and raise the bowl up and down. Both the handle and (2) locating pins on the side of the bowls help keep the bowl fastened into place so it will not move while you are using the mixer. I’ve had a bowl or two fly out of my hands when using a standard hand mixer.
I also really love the pouring chute, this is a great way to add ingredients into the mixer without making a mix. For example many times adding flour to a mix gives you a big cloud of flour The chute along with a protective shield over the bowl helps cut down on the mess. The additional attachment hub allows you to turn your mixer into more then just…well…a mixer. You can purchase additional attachments such as the pasta or grinder. Turn your mixer into a one man show!
The KitchenAid 7 Quart Mixer consists of 10 different speeds in these settings: stir, slow mixing, mixing/beating, beating/creaming, fast beating/whipping, and fast whipping. A booklet full of useful information is included with your mixer from care and cleaning instructions to mixing tips. You will find useful information on kneading bread and other break making tips, egg whites, and whipped cream. The booklet also introduces you to some of the attachments I mentioned above that you can purchase for your mixer.
On a personal level for me this mixer brings back a lot of memories. My grandmother use to have a mixer that I can only assume was a KitchenAid stand mixer. I remember how it looked and how she baked with it. I remember exactly where it went on the counter and how it looked. When I see my KitchenAid Mixer sitting on my counter I can’t help but smile and remember baking with my grandmother when I was a little girl.
