Imentioned in a previous post I had a few fitness items coming up to review. You already have seen my review of Cinch, and the EatSmart Digital Scale. Today I’m reviewing Lindsay Brin’s 60 Day SlimDown Program.
If you are not looking for a bunch of fluff as to why you are eating what you are, or how the diet was derived this may be the diet plan for you. I say this because I have seen some people complain about too much un-needed information in a diet book. Lindsay’s packet that you are able to download with the purchase of the system is a couple pages long and states the key information.
There are two plans, Plan A, Plan B, however there are also some rules if you are breastfeeding. So do not fret if you are breastfeeding and wondering how to lose weight while still making sure your baby gets the proper nutrition.
It appears the point of Lindsay’s plan is to ease you into making your own food selections one phase at a time. There are three phases to help you accomplish this, and of course some great fitness DVD’s to rev up your workouts.
In “Phase 1” Lindsay has you selecting your breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner from a list of acceptable meals helping you take the guess work out of what to eat. A sample days meal would be:
Breakfast: Fiber & fruit pancakes
Lunch: Secret Pizza
Snack: 6 cups air popped popcorn with shaker seasoning
Dinner: Soft Tacos
She includes recipes for each meal that needs more explanation. From my examination of the recipes they seem sound regarding the produce, protein, grains, and fat content. This is definitely not a restrictive diet in giving you just a list of items you can consume. I noticed bacon in a breakfast recipe and mayonnaise in a dinner recipe.
During “Phase 2” Lindsay takes away the list of meals you are to eat and gives you guidelines as to how many veggies, grains, fruit, etc. you are to eat. She also includes some times for increased weight loss by eliminating some of the servings. In this phase you will follow the plan with some added tips on how to eat out and how to construct a meal.
The purpose of “Phase 3” you will learn how to count calories so that you are able to quickly put a meal together and know how many calories are in it.
Note: The difference between Phase A and Phase B is the amount of food you are able to eat, she gives you direction as to what phase is for you.
In addition to an eating plan Lindsay encourages you to track your progress through the use of the scale and measuring tape. She includes a log of what to measure beginning on day one and then every ten days after. She also includes a fitness test to be taken on Day 2 and Day 60 so you can see how far you have come.
In addition to all of this a calendar is included for all Phases. She tells you which of the DVD’s to use on what days, when to rest, and when to get in your cardio. One thing I do love about the program is the set of four DVD’s that comes with it.

I have not yet gotten a chance to try out the DVD’s but my favorite by reading about them and the one I can’t wait to try is the Core Firing Sequence Method. I love to strengthen my core as it really seems to help my back and helps me feel fit.
You can actually follow the progress through Lindsay’s two babies and 4 IVF’s on her blog http://www.lindsaybrin.com/. It appears as I just hopped over there to take a look that Ms. Brin is expecting #3, so I guess make that following her progress with THREE babies! Left her a nice message of congrats, you would not believe that today I found out about two new pregnancies, so I’m waiting for the third as they say things come in threes? (Don’t look at me!)
So my thoughts regarding the over all plan are. For me personally it is a little complicated, I’m one of the ones that does better with just do this and try to work out this many times a week so I can work around what found I have or what days I can fit it in. However that said I’m sure you could take her plan and tweak it to work for you. The recipes look very yummy and I’m always for some new recipes and the DVD’s look very enticing and I’m always into new DVD’s. So if you are looking for a plan that walks you through each step you may want to give this a try. If nothing else the DVD’s are worth the discount price you will pay if you purchase before 1/31. The total price of the program is $49.99 plus the 30% Lindsay is giving you, so that is approximately $35, not bad for 4 DVD’s and a diet plan with some great recipes!
