Back in January I introduced you to our one and only pet. Unfortunately for my children I’m allergic to dogs and cats. So the best they got was a turtle. This is Mr. Magic, affectionately named by my youngest son. He was a birthday present.
Just recently I’ve been unable to keep his tank from looking anything but disgusting. After a trip to the pet store I learned that the problem is that Mr. Magic has just out grown his living quarters and the filter in the tank is not able to work for his size. So it was either purchase a bigger tank with a better filter or the employee suggested we get a small plastic pool to keep him out in the back yard. As I was contemplating what to do my boys brought these home.
There are canals in our neighborhood and I guess one day the boys and their friends found some turtles. I decided to put the little turtles in the tank and I put Mr. Magic in a plastic bin outside with intentions to purchase the pool. Thursday on the way home from school Nick crossed paths with Mr. Magic on the sidewalk. Mr. Magic decided he didn’t like his new living quarters and climbed out of the bin and made it all the way to the sidewalk which was about 80 ft. He and my husband then put Mr. Magic into a container with a lid (with holes) until I could purchase a pool Saturday.
Unfortunately Mr. Magic is a magician hence his name. He managed to disappear. Despite the lidded container he was able to push out of it and escape once again. We were not able to find him this time. We all hope that Mr. Magic has found a good home somewhere and he will be missed.

Well, as hard as he struggled to get away, I can’t help but wonder if it was meant to be. I hope he has a happy life wherever he is!

Oh boy! I was in the same boat {allergies, so not dogs or cats for me}! We had a toad when I was little. My parents had a pond in their backyard. Mr. Toad decided that the pound wasn’t good enough for her/him and decided to hop away.

Aww, well hopefully he is safe somewhere in one of the canals! I have a pet snake, named Striker, who lives in a cage in my bathroom. Recently Striker escaped by pushing open her cage lid and crawling out. She was gone for about three weeks (a very terrifying three weeks) before I found her one morning – she had crawled back on top of her cage and was waiting to be put back in and fed!
Pets… 🙂
