Believe it or not some kids will be going back to school in a week. Others have until September. We are right in the middle and will be going back mid August.
Each year the elementary and middle school students are given a list of recommended supplies for your child to bring to class. The list is not mandatory, as they cannot require you to supply the class room, but if you don’t help, guess who takes the brunt of the expense? Teachers.. Teachers spend a lot of their own money to make sure their classroom is properly equipped with supplies.. A recent Staples survey found that 65% of parents of teens say teachers in their community do not have all the supplies they need.
This summer, Katy Perry and Staples have teamed up to “Make Roar Happen” by celebrating and supporting teachers nationwide this back-to-school season.
Have you ever had a teacher that changed your life? Or one that has helped you in your child’s educational development? I have been very lucky in the teachers my children have had. In fact, I was very impressed with Honey’s 2nd grade teacher. Her teacher used to teach 4th grade but recently stepped in to teach the 2nd grade class. Honey came home to tell me about this large project they were doing in school on dinosaurs and at first I thought it was above her grade level. However, as the project took form I realized just how important the skills she was learning were.
There are many times when the boys are doing projects I have had to help them get started, teach them how to do the research and get it together. Honey’s teacher was doing all of this at an early age so that when they got to a point in their educational careers they would have the skills they needed to do the projects on their own. Teachers play such an important role in our child’s life; it is imperative that they have the tools to successfully educate our youth!

This is so sweet of what Katy’s been doing to giveback while she embarks on her Prismatic Tour. It’s really helpful to see each ticket goes towards Unicef. Good job Katy. Hope the Prismatic tour ends well up into next year
