My daughter is forever asking me to play on my iPhone. Of course then she wants to download games as well. So every so often when I see an iPhone app to review I like to jump in on the fun. There are so many aps out there to chose from that it is always hard to weed through and find something enjoyable. I was recently able to review the iPhonoe ap Alzebra by punflay. Well I didn’t actually do the most reviewing, Honey did.
The reason I chose this application over the others that I had to chose from was I liked the description.
Punflay’s popular Mathomatix series is back! And this time its cutie pie Al the Zebra who’s ready to play cool algebra games with your kids! Learning Algebra is never going to be the same with Mathomatix: Alzebra. The app is designed to teach basic functional algebra to kindergarteners and is based on National and California Standards. The vivid colors, unique characters and exciting animations are sure to capture the curiosity and attention of children. There are five different games, all aimed at improving the various Algebra skills introduced in Kindergarten.
Honey is always up for an iPhone review so I downloaded it to her and handed over the phone. She has been playing the game ever since. She said it was the best one she has played yet. The application comes with 5 fun games.
Pizza Mania: Get ready for a Pizza party! Simply select the right toppings and make your own pizzas! This fun game helps in strengthening identifying, sorting and classifying skills. Your kids will be hungry for more!
Tummy Time: This game has cute animals that are hungry all the time. See your child’s hand-eye coordination improve as they use the accelerometer to feed the right food to the right animal.
Space Rock: Teaching object patterns can leave most parents perplexed. But this fun game set in outer space will encourage the young kindergartener to reason out the patterns and fill them in; cool special effects will leave them giggling!
Jump-a-Sound: An interactive sound pattern game, Jump-a-Sound will encourage your kids to listen to a sound sequence and recreate it. The little chipmunk that jumps greedily at the rewards will have you laughing.
Number Strike: Bring the bowling alley to your living room with this great number pattern game. Simply aim and flick the ball at the correct pin to complete the pattern, and learn all about numbers! An exciting and challenging game for kids!
Without even asking her she volunteered that her favorite game was the Tummy Time or what she calls the snack game. She loves tilting the phone back and forth to try to catch the correct snack for the character on the screen.
I played around with the game myself just this morning so I could get a feel for what it had to offer. I was very impressed with the graphics, as a designer myself I’m always into well designed screens. The graphics are colorful and fun, and the characters or animals are very cute. I mean come on we are trying to get the attention of a 5 year old who isn’t known to sit still for long. Here are a couple screen shots from the came so you can see what I’m raving about.

One other neat feature that is not mentioned here is the My Stuff folder, this houses some of the awards you can win while playing the games
The only thing, if I had to pick one thing I would improve on, would be the level of difficulty. Now we haven’t played this long enough so it is very possible that I’m way off base however I would love to see the game be able to adjust and get harder as you continue to play. My daughter is all about being challenged and when she is not she gets bored. She pretty much knows the skills of this application already and enjoys it but I would like to see it test her just a little more.
For .99 cents this is a great app for little ones to help learn some fun math skills, no one said all work had to be hard it is much more enjoyable when it is fun!
