My Memorial Day weekend started Friday. Why Friday you ask? Because this mama took a vacation day. As with many vacation days I was still “partially” working as there were some important things going down and I needed to be available via email just in case. I started off the day by getting the kids up for school. My oldest was home for the day due to some issues the school was having, my youngest son was off to school, and Honey had a Memorial Day show to get ready for!
Bud and I dropped Honey off and made our way down to the cafeteria to get some good seats and await the first graders. The show was a collection of songs sung by all six first grade glasses. Honey was selected to read a solo part for her class but she decided she didn’t want to do it (she is shy like that). The show was great and my favorite part is when the kids talked about what they were thankful for. Many of them thanked their father for his service to his country.

The rest of the day was full of errands on my part from heading to the post office to dropping off a sick computer. This is pretty much the norm for a vacation day for mom. The rest of our Memorial Day weekend was not the traditional way families spend it. Originally I was hoping to get to the beach and spend some time with my mom. However she ended up getting a great offer on a bungalow across the state and went on a much needed mini vacation with her husband.
Honey and I spent the weekend painting. Not pictures but furniture. I decided it was time to give Honey’s bedroom a much needed facelift. Her furniture looked like it had been through a lot and her room was just packed from wall to wall with furniture, bins, and everything under the sun. So we made several trips to many stores and began our redecorating project. Honey really enjoyed helping me paint everything.
That took up the majority of our weekend. However we did set some time aside for family fun on Monday. The kids enjoyed some outside fun and I got all jazzed up for the holiday right down to the tips of my hair!
Hubby played the part of the grill master and cooked up a traditional lunch/dinner hamburger and hotdogs.
We tried a new brand of hot dogs “Hebrew National“. One of the best things about these hot dogs is that they are all-beef and no by-products. Also in keeping in line with our healthy eating we selected the 97% fat free hot dogs. This meant we could have MORE hot dogs!
I really enjoyed the hot dogs, and I’m not much of a hot dog person. I honestly usually don’t want to know what is in a hot dog, however with the Hebrew National hot dogs there is nothing to be scared about, check out the information below:
Hebrew National tastes great because, for more than 100 years, we’ve adhered to the highest quality standards. Hebrew National Franks are made with premium cuts of 100% pure kosher beef, and contain no artificial flavors, no artificial colors, no by-products, and no fillers.
