When I asked Honey if she would help me review some Moon Dough the answer was a big fat YES! She has always loved Play-Doh and enjoyed it. She has the hamburger kit and the ice cream kit (the ice cream is her favorite). Of course my “walking advertisement”, as I affectionately call her, was super psyched when she opened the package and say the Moon Dough Magic Zoo and proceeded to explain to me how it worked and what you were suppose to do. Guess she had seen the commercial.
Honey especially loved the zoo theme. It didn’t take her too long to figure out how to use it. She is very independent and likes to do things on her own. Of course it wasn’t too long before our white, purple, and orange different colored moon dough became a rainbow swirl of the three colors combined. Why is it that kids never like to keep stuff like this separate they seem to love to squish it all together to create a rainbow effect.
With the Moon Dough Magic Zoo you have the ability to create three different zoo animals, a gorilla, a penguin, and a polar bear. You place the moon dough, which is very light and almost of a sand texture that molds together, into one of the animal molds. Under the mold you place the windup feet. Then you wind the top of the zoo and it will drop the moon dough onto the windup feet and then out pops a walking zoo animal. We took a little video for you to see for yourself.
As you can see Honey was thrilled when the animal pops out and waddles her way across the table, she just finds it quite funny! Honey and I played with it together for a little while and created ourselves a tiny little zoo of animals. The fence pictured here is also included with the kit, it is an additional mold. Let me introduce you too (from left to right), Olivia, Kaitlyn, and Loni (remarkably those are the same names of Honey’s BFF’s)
Honey enjoyed the moon dough and I asked her if she preferred Play-doh or Moon Dough and she didn’t have a favorite. The reason is both materials offer a different experience. The moon dough is easy to vacuum up since it is a light and sandy like material. It does not stick into the carpet or any other type of material, which is a plus in any mom’s book. The moon dough does not dry out and holds its form if not played with too hard.
We did not test out trying to make anything other then the molds that were in the kit but it would be interesting to see if it is do able. Overall Honey has enjoyed her Moon Dough and played with it quite a few times. In my eyes any toy that is played with more then once is a good toy. Too often we purchase something that is sadly played with one time and forgotten about.
In fact, Honey has already looked at the other Moon Dough kits to tell me which ones she would want if I wanted to buy her a surprise! She just wants me to be prepared of course in case I find myself shopping for something for her, can’t blame a girl. She loves the Pan Pizza kit. So this review gets an A+ from our junior reviewer and definitely an A+ for easy of cleaning from Mom!

Great Review! I remember Play-doh way back then… so long ago. It was a lot of fun.
